I "gripe" about injustice, bigotry, inequality etc.  I want MORE from my govt to make America a better place.
You "GRIPE" about what helps you with no regard for it's impact on the rest of the country.
(And yes, I've voted in every election since Vietnam.)

Box, your voting didn't help me.  Your  50 years of voting ran up $17 trillion in deficits, elected a couple of war crimininals that killed hundreds of thousands of people in wars that were not in US interests(Iraq,Vietnam), making corporations billions off of dead people, and the U.S. incarcerates more of their citizens than Eurooe, Russia, and China combined.  I don't want your help through the ballot box anymore.  The death and destruction of innocent lives left in the wake of your vote greatly outweigh the alleged benefits.

Sissy, your failure to vote didn't help anyone including yourself and family.  Your years of not voting did nothing to prevent $17 trillion in deficits,
the election of some very ineffective partisan legislators and allowing big corporations and billionaires to profit billions from the
hard work of the middle class, and fail to pay their fair share.  I don't really need you to vote because as we all know, you are a lame duck
member of society that likely would add nothing of value anyway...but you are free to do so, thanks to the sacrifices of so many that
do care and do attempt to improve the life of all, including you!

Got up in the middle of the night to see the results and I don't believe them. Seriously. Where did the votes for Kosiur come from ? Most can't not stand him.

For 2 reasons.....
1.idiot voters vote party line....ONLY!
2.idiot voters pull the lever for names they recognize!!! TRUE!!
Voters vote either because they 'like them', they have a (d) or (r) after their name, or they recognize their name from years before!!

IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE 'ISSUES'!!!

I think that is a fair evaluation for the uninformed/uncomfortable/easily convinced voters
and for those that may not follow or understand the candidates positions/values....but to say "all"
voters do that is far from accurate. There are many that believe the person they
voted for is/will do a good job, regardless of what others may feel...that's their right.  Also, there
are those that look at the non-incumbent and don't like what they see/hear, so stick
with the incumbent.  Of course there are also those that stay with the "known" because
they are not comfortable with the "unknown".  Bottom line, there are many reasons
people vote the way they do, and it is not all based on the "nice" factor.

This is something that has been bothering me.  All of the politicians have been in a flat out dogfight to win the seat they are running for.  Why is it so important?  Is it "public" service or "private" service?  I am concerned that these positions carry so much favor with them, that the public is totally unaware of, that they will do almost anything to win.  Why are these seats so covetted?  That is what is troubling to me.  What is going on that the public is unaware of.

Please tell me who I should have been voting for all these years that would have changed things as they are today?  Vote all democrat, all republican, 50/50?  Who would have improved life for all if only I had voted for them?  Would my vote have prevented the housing market crash?  Hmmm...The bank bailout was a "bipartisan" bank heist robbing the taxpayers and giving it to Wall St.  Who do I vote for, Hilary that voted for it or Bush that signed it?  Who could I have voted for to stop the iraq war?  Kerry or Clinton that voted to authorize it?  Or Bush who executed it?  How about the incarceration rate that skyrocketed beginning in 1980 and jailing people for non violent under Reagan?  Reagan has been out for 26 years, the U.S. still jails people at a higher rate than any other country.  Democrat or Republican, no matter who controls congress or the White House, the incarceration rate is still climbing.  How about domestic spying?  Bush started it, Obama campaigned against it, and what has been done about it ---ZERO.

So please enlighten me on who I must vote for to change the corrupt warmongering federal government.  I've witness the 50 year track record of you and Box.  I have to say...I'm not impressed with the change voting brings.  Unless the actions of the federal government over the past 50 years are a true representation of the people.  I would like to think not.  If it is, the society is populated with violent warmongering psychopaths that get joy out of organized murder, theft, and jailing.

On these boards hardly ever. However every time I go to the VA Hospital in Albany, or the Clinic here in Schenectady, I hear it all the time.

Do you remind the vets in the VA that patches voted for the politician that sent them there?  Maybe the vets should return the gratitude.

You bring up valid points. But what is your solution or is there none and we will continue down this path indefinitely?  I believe the latter will prevail. Call me a pessimist but history DOES repeat itself.

People see the shiny buildings downtown and they vote for Kosiur & Undertaker fooling voters that things are great in Schenectady. Its only great for the rich developers I don't see many rich voters living in Schenectady they are all poor people that voted for Kosiur & Undertaker. Maybe in 2015 people will see past the shiny buildings and realize that they are getting poorer and rich developers getting richer under the current leadership at city hall! The rest of America sure did last night after the REPS sweept congress! It will take time to trickle down to Schenectady as well!

Based on the results, the only conclusion that a reasonable person can draw is that the voters in the city recognize that Mayor McCarthy and the City Council ARE leading the city in the right direction.

Based on the results, the only conclusion that a reasonable person can draw is that the voters that are still live in the city do not see that that Mayor McCarthy and the City Council ARE leading the city TOTALLY in the WRONG direction.

Based on the results, the only conclusion that a reasonable person can draw is that the voters in the city are mostly:
--- the political crony tax deadbeats who STILL have NOT paid their taxes (causing higher taxes for the others) but the city leaders look the other way and do not foreclose on their political cronies
--- the votes were cast by people who do NOT pay property taxes, and live off the taxpayer dole.
--- the votes were cast by people who were given interest free mortgages with no required payment schedule of any sort (unlike hardworking but financially struggling taxpayers)
--- the votes were cast by people who are people who not normal, independent, self sufficient adults, and do not understand finances, taxes, etc
--- the votes were cast by kids living off of taxpayers via tuition assistance and many taxpayer paid dorms who go hang out at the taxpayer funded gin mills, and do not even know that the two words, "tax" and "base" actually form a legitimate phrase with a purpose

Based on the results, one conclusion that intelligent people know is that the intelligent good taxpaying people have fled the city.

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH, as already proven by EVIDENCE over the past 10 years is that the tax base will continue to fall

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH, as already proven by EVIDENCE over the past 5 years is that property values in the city will continue to fall

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH, as already proven by EVIDENCE is that McCarthy and his dems on the council will continue to REFUSE to render to the taxpayers the services they pay for -- the city has an obligation under state law to publish the list of tax foreclosures (but they have NOT done so because their political cronies are on the list), the city has an obligation under state law to keep assessments current and the mayor and dems on the council have refused and will continue to REFUSE to reassess (to reassess will be an admission by the mayor and dems on the council that they have failed at making the city better because cities that are improving have property values that increase, but failing cities are those with a falling tax base and falling home values.

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know is that there will continue to be many more good people who lose their homes.

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH is that the blight will continue to spread as more of the few who are left will leave the city

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH is that the mayor and dems on the council will continue to increase taxes on the poor to make them pay for the rich

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH is that DV is so embarrassed about the evidence of how he is wrong, that he will forever REFUSE to address/post on these boards about the falling tax base, falling home values, ever increasing taxes, the tax deadbeat political cronies will continue to be overlooked by the city for tax delinquencies but hard working financially struggling people who cannot pay the extra taxes to cover the tax bill of the billionaires will continue to lose their homes.

Based on the results, another conclusion that intelligent people know to be the TRUTH, as already proven by EVIDENCE, is that DV will continue to avoid living ANYWHERE IN the city, and will continue to avoid putting even his pinky toe IN the city

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Box, your voting didn't help me.

Cissy has taken advantage of countless hundreds, possibly thousands of GOVT PROGRAMS in his lifetime
yet he denies he's ever been helped.
I wonder if Cissy was immunized from GOVT FUNDED diseases like polio... Of course he was but he
denies it 'ever helped him'.
I wonder if the Transportation Bond Act that repaired many of Cicero's roads was a "help" to Cissy when
he's driving... or the GOVT FUNDED Interstate Highway Act?  Do ya think that Cissy ever drove on an
interstate???
