Central Park, Schenectady is a wonderful park. It is certainly one of the community's treasures. From the Rose Gardens which inspire us with their beautiful displays of God's gifts in flowers to the playing fields and tennis courts which provide hours of recreation for so many to the swimming pool which is enjoyed by so many during the summer to the band stand and picnic areas which provide entertainment and a place for families to relax and enjoy time together, it is certainly a key part of what makes the City-County of Schenectady such a wonderful place to live and work in.

Of course not. Proves you don't even put your pinky toe IN the city since you do not see what the evidence shows about the park.

Gemini, it is a little better this time of year, compared to the warmer months. Actually, it is a lot better. However, it is possible to just drive past the rose garden and up the hill, and then maybe go past the basketball courts and duck pond, to be able to appreciate the scenery. The best view is looking toward the lake as you go up the hill. As far as used syringes go, I've seen a lot of those, but oddly enough, not in Central Park.
I go to the park at least once a week. While you do find some discarded cups and other fast food trash - I have never seen any syringes and the Park is generally in good shape. That includes the walking and bike trails.
The frisbie golf people keep the trails well picked-up. Visitor, in the warmer months, sometimes people are subjected to some unpleasant experiences in that park, due to a lack of some sort of supervision. You are a policeman. What seems decent to you is because you are there. I'm glad you use the park, the more grown men who do, the better the park is for the rest of us. I mean grown men without way too much time on their hands, of course.

Madame X - Whenever I go to the park, I am in civilian clothes and am no longer in law enforcement. I cover a good part of the park too.
Out of curiosity...Do you go plain clothed armed or unarmed? I remember being at a school function a few years ago, and an off duty cop wasn't shy to admit that he was armed inside the school. I wonder if it common for off duty police to carry while in plain clothes.
