Looking to cut over a million makes Villano look like he might be looking to move up to the big man's chair soon.

Villano should stay right where he is....Lamoure(sp) should run for super.

Mr. Villano can be applauded for his heroic deeds to eliminate unnecessary expenses for the upcoming budget....it's a shame to

see that being right as a Dem can lead to a distressed future for this town..

Mr. LaMora was very passionate regarding his statements at the end of the meeting.....goes to show you there is intelligence and

caring for the people of Rotterdam by Mr. Villano and Mr. LaMora....this REGIME of DEMS have stuffed certain pockets without

regard to the resident/taxpayers of Rotterdam.......

How disappointing  it was to see how this Board cannot come to a compromise for this TOWN .

NEW GOVERNMENT TO RULE FOR THE PEOPLE IS NEEDED......AND SOON....

Rotterdam Town Board member steps down
Mike Viscusi says "personal reasons" behind his decision
By Paul Nelson
Published 8:39 pm, Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Rotterdam

Mike Viscusi's tenure on the Rotterdam Town Board is over.

On Monday, Viscusi, a Conservative cross-endorsed by the Democrats, resigned from the five-member governing body.

"I've got some personal reasons," said Viscusi Wednesday. He declined to elaborate.

His departure comes in the middle of the budget process in which he at times locked horns with some of his colleagues on the board about proposed changes to the spending plan.

"It's going to be interesting to see how we handle this as a group," said Supervisor Harry Buffardi, who stressed the need for town leaders to put politics aside and do what's best for residents. He said reaching a consensus on appointing someone to take Viscusi's place could prove challenging because of the makeup of the board with the two Democrats and the two Republicans.

Viscusi had been the swing vote, though he often aligned himself with Buffardi and Deputy Supervisor Wayne Calder, the two Democrats.

The two Republicans on the panel are Joe Villano and Rick Larmour.

In December, Viscusi cast the decisive vote for the town to rehire the nonprofit Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services for another five years after an impassioned debate that divided the community and its elected officials.

I think it would be better to simply have only four board members.

2 Democrats and 2 Republicans.

Nothing will get passed.

No new spending would get enacted.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The loss of Viscusi is a win for the town.  His qualifications to serve in that position amounted only to his political affiliation with the cops.  Perhaps, his daughter's lucrative position was threatened for elimination?

What qualifications are needed to be on the town board?

My post did not include the word "needed".  The qualifications that I look for in a candidate for elected office who wants to represent me are:

  • A sincere desire to serve the public and not oneself or one's puppeteers
  • A modicum of intelligence
  • Positions on the important issues that approach my views

However, in this town the qualifications are:

  • An alliance with the cops who control the Conservative party ballot line
  • A last name that ends with a vowel

Funding is imperative.  How else can a candidate pay for all the slanderous and anonymous mailers about his/her opponent that clutter our mailboxes and litter the town?
