SCHENECTADY - Two men were taken into custody but no firearms were found after gunshots were fired into a McClellan Street home late Friday morning, police said.

Police were called to the 300 block of McClellan at 11:05 a.m., police said. Two men at the scene were taken away by police but authorities stop short of calling them suspects in the gunplay.

Amid reports men ran into the home and may have been hiding inside, a police tactical team stormed the structure and searched the apartment. No people or weapons were found inside the building.

I was outside puttering around, I heard those shots. Thinking maybe 5 at least. I'm about 5 blocks away. There have been a couple of large commotions on McClellan within the past month or so. Not sure if same place. Have to go look, one was down by State, other central part between Becker and Bradley.

A) Did they have a warrant?

B) What does this make now? Five or six times in a row the SWAT team was called and found nothing?

So when shots are fired they should not send the SWAT team?

Warrant may or may not have been needed.

Regarding not finding anything - if SWAT is not on scene immediately, you think maybe the people who fired the shots would have time to get ris of the guns?

that part of the neighborhood is all part of drug kingdom.......and SWAT teams are needed.....we  have another Troy and Albany so far as the

shootings go.....

GUns are everywhere these days.....and NRA approves of rights to bear arms......these guns are mostly neighborhood guns...hidden in spots where

the perps can grab and shoot.....

Unsafe neighborhoods everywhere in the city...

It probably took police 10 minutes to respond to the scene, another 10 minutes to get witness information, another 30-45 minutes for SWAT to gear up and make their plans of entry, by that time that gun could be buried 6 feet under the ground by then.

Yeah, I thought that was funny.  It wasn't too long ago when our fellow forum member visitor was defending surveillance cameras is the city because they were only filming things in public view.  It looked the the person filming was on a public sidewalk and filming what was in public view.  Yet the cop told him to stop filming and threatened to take it as evidence.  I'm pretty sure the person filming wasn't there to collect evidence on behalf of the Schenectady police.  If that's the case, then pay the man for the video.

Cicero - you are tiresome. It is two separate issues.    RE: private cameras - people have a right a to film the police in a public forum.

Henry - how long do you think it takes to dispose of a gun used in a crime?

With all the incidents involving citizens filming police - it should be fairly common knowledge that the public has a right to do that.  Could they confiscate film in certain circumstances - yes, but for all the noise and commotion, I doubt they would need or want it for this incdent.  Probably an ill advised comment by the officer, precipitated by the annoyance of being filmed.
