If you go back to the original meetings and discussion on the topic, you will find that the local residents were not opposed to building that corner area. Their complaint was that the CVS proposal was too big and invasive. Of course, our resident expert planner was sole vote approving CVS and accused residents of being against it because it was a CVS (on the record as quoted in Gazette interview after the planning vote). I think it's perfect location for small strip mall type shopping |

Isn't there a reason to put another government building there? Maybe separate the collector of taxes and tax assessors office from townhall and put there offices there. That is usually the solution to vacant property development. |

I don't care if they use it to store porta-johns, just get rid of that abomination that's there now and put something else there. How hard can it be. Geez. |

I'm not sure, but thought I heard that CVS already purchased some of the property, which if true, would complicate other development. |

The only property CVS owns is the deteriorated one at the corner. All other properties are under contract with CVS if the plans are approved. You can view the contracts at Town Hall to see who owns which properties. |

How about that new apartment building at the corner of Altamont and Curry it looks like it fits right in there. Chisled in between houses and one story businesses. Great job Rottendam. |

I thought it was the 'too big/invasive' issue too. I don't think they were opposed to development there. Even if it WAS another drug store. I thought cvs was going to revamp their plans and resubmit....no? |

CVS Caremark Prepared to Help Customers Access Care With New Affordable Care Act Coverage
inShare WOONSOCKET, R.I., Dec.31, 2013 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --As coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) gets underway on January 1 for millions of Americans, CVS Caremark (NYSE: CVS) is ready to help patients who may experience coverage issues or have questions as they access care and prescription medications under new plans for the first time.
"CVS/pharmacy is committed to assisting our patients who may encounter disruptions in their prescription insurance coverage beginning January 1," said Helena B. Foulkes, President, CVS/pharmacy and Executive Vice President, CVS Caremark. "Our pharmacy teams will provide information to help patients contact the appropriate health plan or insurance exchange, and we are actively communicating with insurance plans and government agencies to help minimize disruption to care whenever possible."
In some circumstances and based on clinical considerations, CVS/pharmacy will assist patients who are experiencing a temporary disruption in insurance coverage with a transitional or "bridge" supply of medication to support their continuity of care. A bridge supply is a prescription of 15 or 30 days. For patients who express financial hardship, a bridge supply may be provided as a courtesy to help them remain adherent to their medication therapy while they resolve their coverage issues.
MinuteClinic, the medical clinic inside select CVS/pharmacy stores, will be providing similar flexibility for patients who may be in transition with their health care coverage.
"We want to play our part in the medical community to support our patients' health care needs during this time because some plan details are still being determined," said Andrew Sussman, M.D., President, MinuteClinic and Senior Vice President/Associate Chief Medical Officer, CVS Caremark.
"As a health care provider, CVS Caremark is dedicated to helping people on their path to better health," added Foulkes. "As the ACA and other health insurance coverage changes roll out beginning January 1, we will do all we can to provide guidance and support for patients during this complex time."
About CVS Caremark CVS Caremark is dedicated to helping people on their path to better health as the largest integrated pharmacy company in the United States. Through the company's more than 7,600 CVS/pharmacy stores; its leading pharmacy benefit manager serving more than 60 million plan members; and its retail health clinic system, the largest in the nation with more than 750 MinuteClinic locations, it is a market leader in mail order, retail and specialty pharmacy, retail clinics, and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans. CVS/pharmacy’s Project Health to Provide Free Care to Patients Americans looking for help understanding the new health coverage options made available through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will find assistance and health screenings at select CVS/pharmacy retail stores through March 2014. More than 350 “Project Health” events will be held at CVS/pharmacy locations across the United States. In addition to information about the health care exchanges as part of the ACA, participants will receive free screenings, on-site consultations with bilingual (English and Spanish) nurse practitioners or physician assistants, referrals to low- or no-cost medical facilities, and one-on-one medication reviews with CVS pharmacists. CVS/pharmacy Kicks Off 2014 Project Health Campaign CVS/pharmacy decided to make health insurance experts available again in 2014, after participants in 2013 remarked that they were “extremely helpful,” said Helena Foulkes, president of CVS/pharmacy. "We are focused on helping our customers make informed decisions about their health care and will continue to do so as the new health care marketplace is rolled out,” Foulkes added. Enrollment for the health care exchanges lasts until March 31. The screenings measure blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, and total cholesterol. Children 7 and older may participate in screenings with parental consent. The free, comprehensive health screenings offered at Project Health events afford customers access to vital health care services at convenient times and locations, Foulkes said. Additionally, the screenings can help identify health concerns or risk factors customers may be unaware of, she said. About 155,000 people received free screenings at Project Health events in 2013. Among those consumers, 51 percent were found to be overweight or obese; 41 percent had abnormal blood pressure readings; 32 percent had abnormal glucose readings; 41 percent were found to have abnormal cholesterol levels and; 11 percent had risk factors for osteoporosis. Patients needing follow-up care will be referred to a medical facility that offers affordable services from a physician or nurse practitioner.CVS/pharmacy will conduct Project Health events in or near Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, New York City, Philadelphia, Tampa and Washington through March. Events will also be held at select stores in Puerto Rico in March and April. Services will be available from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with no appointment required. For more information and a full calendar of Project Health events, visit http://www.cvs.com/projecthealth (in Spanish: http://www.cvs.com/proyectosalud).
