I know it may have already been talked about, but it's tough sometimes to sift through all the interesting posts here...
Thanks.

Superior Business Products is moving from their current location on Carmen Rd. to the new facility. I understand there may be other business' locating there as well.

There is room for 1 other business at the old Grand Union.  This project should really spruce up that section of Hamburg Street.  It really looks as those things are moving in the right direction in that area -- first, the new dispatch center, then - the new Stewart's and now the revitalizing of the old Grand Union and, also, the old ice cream across the street.  Another good signs on the street -- The Brown Bag sub shop.

Stewarts I understand their own money, had NOTHING to do with Metroplex bribes, as they renovate stores ALL THE TIME.

Dispatch center.   Who paid for it?   Not DV, but the rest of us who have our names on the tax rolls and have to pay.

Can't remember if the move of that business has any tax dollars with it.

Then I thought I remember something about Hamburg Street itself, some $5 million road project - TAX MONEY.  I might be wrong but I thought I heard about sidewalks on Hamburg St, is that with or without sewers.  So do they rip it up again to put sewers in?   And if so, will people on septic be forced to pay thousands and hook up to the sewers and then pay several hundred dollars a year like Schenectady city people do?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

psst - they didn't move for their health.  They were doing QUITE well in their old location, still within the town.  No new employees, just a consolidation of physical buildings - and a formal loading dock.  Do your homework, of course there was an incentive.

Actually, it is not just the business from just down Hamburg Street that is moving in.  They bought another related business in Guilderland and are combining BOTH operations under one roof.  This new space will give them room to grow their business.  Hopefully, they will be very successful in their endeavors.

Bottomline - this project is a HUGE win for Rotterdam.

hamburg st....a little warehouse district with some eatery places....certainly not a destination.....it's a residential area that should have
been retail shops...but NNNNOOOOOOOO rotterdam is dumping the east side into the city of schenectady.....SIMPLE.....

The old Grand Union WILL be a retail business products store with a warehouse in the back.  Hamburg Street is definitely NOT a warehouse district nor will it ever become one.  You really need to check your facts first before posting.

Also, we haven't heard who the other tenant will be.  It will either be retail or office.  Hamburg Street is looking better and headed in the right direction.

like I said...bank, food, gas, offices, laundry mat, gas station, moving trucks, school, churches........

sounds like a destination to me....the ONLY THING hamburg street has going for it is the skating rink....

although a brand new non-empty building is better than the crap that was there, yet we are a far way off the mark....

home prices falling means we need to bring in higher-type retail or we go the way of state street where the ten-ten  bar is now

All of the entities that you listed ARE destinations and DO bring people and economic activity to the area.  All of those entities are things that "hamburg Street has going for it." Hamburg Street, Rotterdam and the WHOLE City-County of Schenectady is moving in the right direction as far as economic development.

You are entitled to your own opinion even though it is completely wrong.  All of those listed ARE indeed destinations and Hamburg Street is, after many years, heading in a positive direction.  Of course, I would not expect a constant complainer to admit that but anyone who looks around can see that some very good things are happening along that important commercial corridor in our town.
