But while I don't know what the threshold is that you would define as your taxes being unaffordable, suppose it's $6,000 a year and you still have $40,000 left to pay on your mortgage.   How are you going to get a mortgage to buy a house elsewhere?   Your credit will be ruined.   How will you be able to even rent an apartment when most apartment owners run a credit check?   When you have to buy a new car, how will you get approved if your credit is shot?  

When you get your paycheck from your job, would you rip up the check uncashed?   Or if you have direct deposit as most have today, would you go withdraw the money and just toss the money into the trash?

Oh my gosh, where do you do your banking????    Three times?    You mean you buy a house for $100,000 and pay back $300,000?   Where are you doing your banking?  Even at 10% interest you only pay only $215,000 in principal and interest.   Who pays 10% interest these days?   Who pays anything higher than 5%?

However, in the city of Schenectady, it's probably true that what you pay out is 3x what the house is worth.   In the city, your house loses value so it's likely you will have paid 3X it's worth since the dems and plex make you pay the taxes of their downtown millionaire cronies and your house falls in value and you are underwater on your mortgage.   Get out of the city and buy a house and your house will probably have doubled in value before you are done paying off your house, probably more than doubled in value.

Because the city doesn't want you to know the truth.   Remember DV posting some newspaper story claiming that pilot payments are increasing and babble babble babble.   Perhaps DV can explain why the numbers in the city budget to not add up to what the newspaper story claim they were.

The city and county dems  in Schenectady do not tell the truth to the people.   We who acutally have our names on the tax rolls have a birthright entitlement to accountability from our governments.   But in the city, town, county and metroplex, the words "accountability" and "transparency" are NOT in their vocabulary.

I paid 10% interest on my home, but that was 30 years ago, and I paid it off in 15 years.

$100,000 for 30 years will cost you over $290,000 at 9%.

Your mortgage rate will depend on your credit score.

Back in the 70s and 80s 10% was common.
