Here are this Sunday's house that the taxpayers are paying for the Sunday gala open houses and bus tour
Six out of 15 are already empty. Why gave the owners fled the city already?
I can't believe the INCOMPETENCE of the real estate agents the taxpayers are funding (well, it's Schenectady. guess the realtors know they aren't going to make any money in a sale. Just kickbacks from the city
2153 Campbell Ave - black kitchen cabinets AND black appliances!
1444 Dewitt - outdated kitchen counters, I mean really outdated. Then a pink bathtub with yellow tile!
225 14th St - hope you like 40+ yr old paneling
1060 Keyes Ave - blue sculptured carpeting! 1950's light fixtures!
1487 Wyoming Ave - for sale 5 years - no buyers !!!!!!!!! It's been listed on and off since 9/4/2009 and has been through 4 realtors!

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.
This is public info by law (so DV, don't whine that this is people "private info.") The owners bought the house for $150,000 in April 2006 They got an FHA mortgage for $148,800 Got an FHA mortgage, rates in 2006 were around 7%, we'll apply 6.5%. They have NOT done a refi. Based on that rate and mortgage amount, the payoff balance today is just about $131,000.
In 2006, city had DEM mayor (mayor of BS) Reassessment done in 2009-10 assessed the house for $146,800 - under a DEM mayor of BS, house already lost value. But wow, they tried to sell for $179,900 in Sept 2009 In 2014, city has a DEM mayor (mayor McTHIEF) Payoff on their house is about $131,000, they are currently asking $129,000
Not only have they lost 8 years of money paid on the mortgage so far, but now, when they sell, they will STILL have a mortgage balance left to pay after they have sold their house.
Thanks to the dems and plex leading the city and county.
And the taxes shown of the $5,907, I believe that's a bit low: Here is the calculation, and remember, the water and sewer charges in this chart are from I think 2012, so bump that up a bit, not sure how much as the DEMS in the city REFUSE to divulge to the taxpayers the breakdown of the water and sewer charges, they REFUSE to publish it and you will NOT find it in city council minutes either!

Mayor McCarthy is a Realtor wannabee he doesn't have a clue how to get rid of the stock pile of city foreclosures in his lap. Failed Mayor. Failed Policies. VOTE MCCARTHY OUT ! <--- This should be the Rep/ Alliance campaign against McCarthy in 2015
so next time they have this 'gala tour'....gather all the property owners and line the roads with signs/posters referencing high taxation!
In fact....it's an election year. Everyone pool your money together and have campaign signs made up with TAXES TOO HIGH on them (or something like that) and plant them around. Preferably on the vacant homes 'VACANT DUE TO HIGH TAXES'!! or 'PROPERTY WON'T SELL DUE TO HIGH TAXES'!!
COME ON FOLKS!!!!
or is the city folk so dumbed down that they won't even do THAT???? that's what the powers that be already think....obviously!!
REMEMBER....don't expect the reps to be the savior here....cause the dems created a BEAST that the reps would like nothing better than to control!!!

I'm sure this is the case. It's either/or or a mix of both
-- The current city/county/plex leaders (mostly city) have brainwashed the people.
-- The has made it virtually impossible to fight city hall, assessment grievances are a good example, yes there is the SCAR level but the rules are so picky that even delivering a copy to the wrong office within the correct building cause you to lose your case.

paleezzeee....these folks ALLOWED themselves to be brainwashed....if that is in fact the case. They ARE NOT victims! This didn't happen overnight!! This has been going on for over a decade!!!!!!!!!
Next.....if in fact they (the city dwellers) are all BRAINWASHED as you say....then it IS a hopeless case and why are you wasting your time bitching and bashing? just askin'

Hello Everyone, new to the forums. I've been reading for a while though. Great to find a local forum for discussion. Not everyone in the city is brainwashed though, many are very unhappy but there doesn't seem to be a proper outlet for fixing these issues in any meaningful way. I personally bought a home in the city (not a great idea in retrospect) but I was 21, lived here my whole life, couldn't afford to leave etc. I've tried to stay on top of exorbitant taxes, attempted to file grievances and be reassessed and was told I had to pay more money and jump through more hoops to even fight it, I honestly didn't have time for all that. I'm also not happy paying school taxes to a district which can't even produce a passable graduation and retention rate, so that bill goes by the wayside so I can send my kids to private school. Neither political party will fix these problems because ultimately they both benefit and just play off of each other. We the PEOPLE need to make our own stand and stop letting these people claim to represent us or our interests. It's the 21st century and the average citizen has the resources and capabilities to represent themselves, especially at a local level.

The average citizen has the resources to represent themselves????? Galesi is a billionaire and can pay off the city and plex leaders for ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING he wants.
The average citizen can barely afford their taxes, they have no money to pay an attorney. Working two jobs, taking care of a house, raising children, attending their children's school functions, being caregivers for elderly parents at the same time, trying to take care of the code violations as a DIY because they don't have the resources to pay for expensive contractors (because they paid high taxes to build new buildings for downtown multimillionaires who can more than afford to build their buildings at their own expense), but sure, after being awake 20 hours a day, people have the time to spend researching all the stuff needed to grieve their assessments and represent themselves. They can't afford to pay attorneys to do it and they have no time to do it themselves.
You even wrote: "...and was told I had to pay more money and jump through more hoops to even fight it,..." Well the homeowners in the city do NOT have the money to pay anything more for something that they pay taxes for.
The homeowners pay taxes to the city to pay for an assessor's office and it is the job of the assessor to keep assessments up to date and it is the job of the taxpayer paid assessor to do a citywide reassessment and reduce assessments, it is NOT the job of the homeowners to do the assessor's job, but the current city leaders don't want to spend the money to do a reassessment because they don't want to make the downtown millionaires pay their full share of taxes.
And it is NOT the job of the city homeowners to pay for the $300,000 demolition cost for a building owned by a tax exempt billionaire
And you wrote, "....Neither political party will fix these problems because ultimately they both benefit and just play off of each other...." Are you familiar with Councilman Riggi? We would NEVER do that!

To further clarify I agree with what you're saying. I understand the struggle of the average citizen as I am one, as a 25 year old home owning resident basking in what Mt. Pleasant has become in my lifetime. I understand the more financed individuals and families in the area can buy power to further their agenda and that obviously should not be the case. Everyone needs to pay their share. I however am advocating a massive overhaul of government on all levels and see no need for a council and feel that the people can adequately represent themselves for issues that effect all of us using modern technology and the availability of public information. If we can text vote for American Idol why isn't something similar done for things that matter. The fact we can pull up tax rolls and see who hasn't paid etc in minutes illustrates my point. Make these cameras funded by Homeland Security publicly view able and accessible so we can utilize them. Stop wasting money on Police that can't actually prevent crime and get rid of unnecessary laws and fines which turn good people into criminals. I shouldn't need permission that needs to be paid for to put a fence on my property I pay for and improve it. We have the tools to hold them accountable now and that scares them, cell phone videos, public records in seconds etc. Why on earth would any sane person invest in something that is clearly failing like our school district? We should have the power to hold them accountable and demand results or they get no money, very simple.

Most likely it's the people on welfare doing that on their obamaphones.
Voting by text? No proof of identification?
