I told a friend I lived in town and they said that Rotterdam is full of uneducated children who inherited homes from their parents.  I moved here and have a college degree so of course I disagreed with that statement.

It made me think though when walking through my neighborhood and seeing 5 cars in 3 bedroom ranches.  Is that all Rotterdam really is?  And those who work are employed by pizza places and hair salons?

Yes, it a lot of old money.  Uneducated is probably the wrong word.  Those holding degrees tend to think a college degree equals intelligence.  They have to think that way, it justifies the $50k college debt they are strapped with.

college isn't bad for learning something specific by being allowed to be extorted to gain access to this knowledge, we accept it but
wrongfully call it intelligence.....

knowledge is locked up by $$$
intelligence is what one is born with

public schools and the psychology of government will attempt to make your intelligence an enemy in your mind.

the intelligent and educated kids from this Town move elsewhere ...out of the area...or out of the state.....there is nothing here in this town to keep the kids

here and they understand that now...gone is the reproduction of family in any business here in thei Town and especially will soon be in the government...

only pizza joints, bars, banks, markets, salon, a few restaurants....it's bringing back the 50's...where when kids went off to college ...they moved elsewhere

to earn a living....and all were successful....it's not 60K....for a degree....depending on what career you want it can be up to $279,000,,,,that's right....

so who would want to owe that money for slinging a pizza, mixing a drink, etc.,

wake up Rotterdam...youth is leaving and finding better employment wnd less taxes elsewhere..

Quoted from Patches

.....there is nothing here in this town to keep the kids

.

Except a free place to stay with your parents when you are a 33 year old child.

A friend of mine was complaining that she spent a fortune sending her 2 kids to college.

One loves tending bar and has found his dream job for life.

The other moved to California and lives mostly on the beaches and picks up odd jobs, here and there.

From what I see and hear from friends and family............college in this day and age is almost a total waste of time and money....for the average Joe that is.

The way to go is to learn a trade...if ya can get the young ones to want to 'get physical'.

Become a plumber, electrician, carpenter, hair dresser, seamstress....these jobs are far few and in between and they can just about name their price!

Not to mention.... plenty of 'side jobs'.

you have to bring back our products to AMERICA....before anyone can give advice on jobs......emphasis on college has overkill...

from the time a kid can walk and talk...that's all that is in the forefront......can't even be a kid anymore and play and act like a kid...

so, when it comes to college and $$$$$.......wow...can't wait to go party and drink myself into oblivion...used to be college meant something...it was worth the

sacrifice especially for those who could afford it......now, colleges are rated on "how they party"......

for me, it's a waste these days because the education about what college really is .....is missing.....why??????????.....it's STATUS..

the problem will be in how we receive our pay checks....working on side jobs or 'under the table' helps folks keep their heads
above water...but with less and less cash about and more virtual 'credit/debit' being used...the only option in the future is
BARTER.....

there WILL be 2 classes.....

show me the $$$ trail and the control

this town is full of ignorance and yes uneducated and so called lower level people. Its getting worse and if we dont change out the administration there will be no turning back - rotterdam has lots of beautuful areas and well educated people, those people need to help get the ball rolling and clean up the town -

that's just why this Town will never change....."you can't change what you don't acknowledge" (Dr Phil).....the youth of today have all kinds of degrees....

doesn't make them any smarter if they don't have common sense or the will to change anything.....they are not interested in politics...they are into their own

lives.....that's why government here or any where does not change.......old men that are overweight and can hardly see are running this country.....

so there is no example set....and in this Town....selfish. greedy .personal agenda thinking may think they are educated...but NOT..

so here is Rotterdam......take it or leave it....and in many cases....they are leaving for "parts unknown"

It will never change. It will continue to be backwards, nepotism-oriented, provincial, under-educated, close-minded and extremely corrupt. As Schenectady seeps in, even more so. I predict that the taxes will eventually double withing 8-10 years as well, making property values go into a tailspin. Crime will spiral, they will hire more politically-driven police who will dictate their own pay to the politicos and the town may end up filing bankruptcy. Not a very good outlook.

One of the bigger problems in a nutshell is "I gotta' mine-a so I no wanna' change-a anyting an-a I wanna know-a nut-ting a no how. Joost-a tell-a me a HOW to vote-a, officer caus-a you-a my paisano!"

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

BT.......do you ever listen to the police calls.......they are busy ....and maybe paid the highest  ( that is not right according to this population) but they are doing a heck of a job....

one thing.......POLICE SHOULD BE AT WALMART'S 24/7.....would save expense in gas and time consumed and wear and tear on the cars...

constant shoplifting daily and more than once....then they have to find them...chase them....most of the time the perps are running to the city...city police has to step in...

DO IT RIGHT AND THE COUNCIL SHOULD SET IN A RESOLUTION TO THE RPD.....it's needless to proceed the way they do when it comes to WALMART's

otherwise the RPD is doing a great job....and hope you never need them.....

and another thing.....the kids that go to college look forward to partying their brains out.....just see the news and how many drinks there are in college

and then go missing......shame that all they think about going to college is the parties and the binges....

that's where education has to begin....at home.....it's not funny anymore....
