How do you improve infrastructure without spending money?

Explain why streets IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS where the TAXPAYERS live are not being taken care of as good as were before downtown started getting fixed up at taxpayer expense.

Yes the cost of routine paving, maintenance of watermains and sewers needs to be paid for by spending tax money.   But "improvements" does NOT mean replacing perfectly working existing light poles and replacing them with "fancy" light poles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And DV, "infrastructure" does NOT include buildings owned by private people.   It is NOT the responsibility of the taxpayers to be paying for to reno or build new buildings for millionaires and billionaires!!!!!!!!   That is THEIR responsibility.

Finally, I challenge all of the naysayers and complainers to lay out a strategy to revitalize the neighborhoods without first revitalizing downtown?  How do you lower taxes without working on improving the tax base in our urban core?  How do you improve infrastructure without spending money?  How do you accomplish anything by doing (what they seem to suggest) nothing?

In October 2011, you posted the following:

in 7 short years the Democrats the Democrats have DROPPED TAX RATES TO THE LOWEST POINT SINCE THE 1950's and  the entire county is in an economic Renaissance -- including Downtown.

THOSE ARE THE FACTS

On March 18, 2012 you posted the following:

Further -- my statements are FACTUAL ---   it is a FACT that county property tax rate  were HIGHER in 1970 than they are now.

DV, we challenge YOU, once again, to provide proof of your statement!!!!!!!!!!

Almost three years since you made that first statement (and two and half years since the second), several requests and challenges for you provide proof of the taxes and you have REFUSED to respond with any evidence.

DV do you know you have no credibility at all on these boards!   In order to be credible, you have to provide evidence that proves what you say and you NEVER provide proof of anything

Yes, I do give credit to ...... and the City Council (all of the members including Mr. Riggi    )

October 4, 2011
Mr. Riggi is Schenectady's version of Kelly Rhinesmith --  a misguided pain in the a**.

The he/she nayboob (supposedly a husband & wife team - but who can tell for sure) cuts and pastes a bunch of stuff to fit his/her view of reality.  He/she ignores any positive information.  He/she has also been known to "modify" the posts of other people to distort and lie.  He/she has been known to continually post lies and misinformation about our community and anyone who disagrees with him/her.  He/she has been known to drag the names and information (real and imagined) of relatives of people that he/she disagrees with onto this board.  He/she has also resorted to creating and using fake usernames to pretend to be other people to cause trouble.   I have no use for him/her because he/she has no credibility and is, in my opinion based on his/her actions and statements, a psychopathic nut case that will probably end up on the front page like Charles Manson or some other delusional creep on crime spree.

I'm trying real hard to understand this. Do they have kids? Are their kids involved in this as well? And this has been going on for four year? Unbelievable.

I was told this was a nasty place, where name calling and suspicion were the order of the day. I said, "No way, you're joking." I had to see for myself. Boy was I wrong. I think I'm going to leave for awhile, and give real hard thought as to if I want to be here at all. After 3 weeks or so of the rotterdamny.info experience my inclination is to not waste anymore of my time.

See you later. Maybe

LOL

Problem is that Schenectady has changed for the worse.

The way to describe it is after those stores downtown closed, I'd say Hamilton Hill could have been described as bad.   Now that the city/co/plex is spending money on downtown at taxpayer expense, Hamilton hill is worse than bad.

Previous to past 10 years of wild uncontrolled spending of tax dollars on downtown, the rest of the neighborhoods were decent and livable. Today most of them are bad.

When stores were empty downtown, the tax base was much higher, and overall few boarded up buildings.    Today the number of boarded up houses and buildings has ballooned and expanded to just about every neighborhood in the city.  Ran into an acquaintance in the store a little while ago, someone we haven't seen in quite a number of years.  Typical question early on in conversation is "how's your mom/dad" and this guy's parents lived in Eastern Ave area, they went to that church that closed, not St John's but the one up the hill that is supposed to become a museum or something like that.  His mother died maybe 15 or 20 years ago and we were surprised his father still lives there, but he told us his parents had bought the house maybe 50 years ago and his father just does not want to leave.  A little over a year ago they finally convinced him to move he was attached to the house; that's understandable. And they are trying to sell the house now, he said it was assessed for about $90,000 in 2009-10 which wasn't much difference than the previous  citywide assessment.  They listed the house for in the $60
s and now it's in the $40's after 18 months, no one wants to buy it.    His father used to walk to church until the about 8 or 9 yrs ago because it got to be too dangerous to walk even a couple blocks so he'd come to take his father to church and his wife went to their own church.  The father's house has been broken into twice in the last 10 years and never was before.

DV's insinuates that spending taxpayer money on downtown is the key to improving the city   But the city was fine.   So what if there were empty buildings downtown and no place to shop.  Today, there STILL is NO PLACE to shop.  Taxpayer funded gin mills, no place buy anything from clothes, to house needs, to DVDs/CDs etc..   And downtown businesses that were LONG TIME TAXPAYING businesses have closed.    Before the wild spending The neighborhoods were largely stable, the city's tax base was higher, property values were higher, people were buying houses IN the city.

Funny thing is current MVP building opened in January 2002.   That is almost 13 years.   Now WHY have the city/county/plex DEMS given the building a more than 50% tax exemption starting in 2010??????    And NO END YEAR !!!!!!!   Oh, we have to remember that the address of the owner is 695 Rotterdam Industrial Pak - i.e, BILIONAIRE GALESI!!!!!!!    Of course, the dems are beholden to Galesi and the dems increase taxes on the homeowners to pay for the taxes of properties owned by billionaire Galesi.

And since I always provide evidence of what I say (unlike DV), here is the PROOF.

How about we challenge you to ask DV to provide EVIDENCE of he statements he makes.

We modify posts?????

Nov 5, 2011

I am pretty sure that I was speaking about the LIES that suggest that somehow taxes will go up double-digit if the Democrats are elected ---- TAXES CAN NOT GO UP MORE THAN 2%.

is it that you just can't get it or just refuse to get it ?

DV, a person who is NOT a property taxpayer, you see, knows NOTHING about property taxes.   HIS WORDS - "taxes cannot go up more than 2%"   but ask DV, challenge him to address his statement and talk about taxes on Rotterdam people in the Schdy district going up WAY MORE 2%.

He posted the following on March 18, 2012; just click the link below it and scroll down a bit and you will see DV’s VERY OWN WORDS, but in the two and half years since that post, DV has ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to provide ONE TEENY WEENY SHRED OF EVIDENCE.   And notice his message was NOT modified, changed, manipulated in ANY WAY.   There are 100% the words of DV, he claims the information is "factual".   Challenge DV to provide EVIDENCE that his statements are FACTUAL

He posted the following on March 18, 2012

Further -- my statements are FACTUAL ---   it is a FACT that county property tax rate  were HIGHER in 1970 than they are now.

http://rotterdamny.info/m-1331814443/s-30/

And notice he NOT at all spoken about the images from OFFICIAL GOVERMENT RECORDS showing that there is NO END YEAR for these tax exemptions.

Notice that we provide EVIDENCE of the falling home sales AND falling home sale prices in Schenectady city while showing that generally the other cities are seeing increases in either sales OR prices or BOTH sales AND prices.   Challenge DV to address that EVIDENCE that PROVES that downtown is NOT helping the city.

When DV said houses are old and obsolete and should be torn down, we presented a long list of houses close to or more than 100 years old, beautiful, magnificent houses and DV REFUSED to comment on his claim that these houses should be torn down.

We have posted images of MANY MANY MANY blighted houses in the city that were NOT abandoned 5 to 10 years ago.

How about the wild spending on a STUPID mayor's real estate "business."

With the wild uncontrollable spending of taxpayers' money on downtown, people started fleeing the city and people do NOT want to buy houses IN the city.

Prior to tax money spent on downtown, houses WERE selling

In 2013 the taxpayers were ROBBED of $300,000 in the mayor's attempt to sell houses IN the city

Then, with home sales falling, and the mayor's attempt to sell houses a massive failure, the mayor chooses to RAPE AND ROB homeowners more by increasing the "funding" for his failing home selling attempt by 70%

So in 2014, the mayor spent a WHOPPING HALF MILLION dollars in a DESPERATE attempt to sell houses IN the city.

So how all these so called improvement sin downtown and the mayor's wild spending in a useless attempt to sell house doing?

From January through July 2012, the number of houses that sold IN the city was 153 for average of $101,000

From January through July 2013, the number of houses that sold IN the city FELL to 150 and the selling price fell to $94,000

From January through July 2014, the number of houses that sold IN the city FELL to 142 and the selling price fell to $89,994

So, is increasing taxes on homeowners to fund downtown and pay the taxes of the downtown properties helping the city?

Actually, you are one of the pleasant people to converse with on this board.  I would hate to see you leave.  As for the other one, he/she is on ignore and I won't speak of him/her ever again - ever.  I refuse to give negative people any more attention.

Many children in the olden days used to do reports in school by copying, via handwriting, word for word out of an encyclopedia.  Today of course it's easy to copy and paste.

We are raising our children to avoid tabloids when doing research and reports.  They are being raised to NOT copy and paste but to actually look at legitimate evidence and to cite the sources of the evidence.

Like most parents, our children are also being raised to become NORMAL adults that will get a job, leave the nest, and  NOT be dependent upon a mommy's teat.   They are being raised to be INDEPENDENT ADULTS on their own and self supporting.   We have two boys who will NOT be mamas' boys living with a mama figure at 52 years old!   Our daughter is in college now and even as a student away from home is self supporting.

Ok, I'll try this. I'm putting mikechristine1 on the blocked users list.  I'll see if not having to read their drivel makes this experience any less annoying. It's really too bad they can't put forth their info without the BS. They've lost any credibility they may have had with me. I'm pretty sure others here feel the same. Because of their BS their message is falling on deaf ears. Quite the opposite of what they claim.

Ok, they're blocked. One question though. I noticed that after their screen name there is a number 12 in parentheses. Is this the number of people currently blocking them?
