It is known as scorched earth policy, whereby the rich take the money and run leaving behind poverty and destruction.
And you support it.
so what if dv supports it? focus on YOURSELF!! What are YOU going to do other than complain? Are you going to find a candidate that will reverse all of this? GOOD LUCK!! You don't like it....move!

You do realize that if moving without giving away my property for next to nothing were possible, I would be Florida bound.
Name a candidate that will challenge the Metroplex empire.

FIRST....if and when you finally realize things ain't gonna change no matter who is elected...and you think you are held hostage to situations beyond your control....then just WALK AWAY! Thousands of folks are doing that nationwide!!
SECOND....there ain't a future candidate out there that will publically support of abolishing the METROPLEX/GILLEN.
So either walk away....or live in misery. Lifes too short.

Who the hell are you to tell anyone to shut up?
WTF have you done?
Telling victims of excessive taxation to shut up is horrible.
You have a right to an opinion, you don't nave a right to badger people and tell them to shut up.
Try discussing the issues, instead of harassing the people that are doing so.

Walk away = live in misery because your credit is ruined.
Contrary to what DV claimed that Metroplex is a WIN-WIN, the REAL TRUTH is that it is a LOSE-LOSE.
If you stay in the city you live in misery paying ever increasing taxes while your home value falls
If you walk away you will forever live in misery because your credit is ruined.
Walk away = live in misery. Imagine walking away and never being able to buy a car because your credit is ruined (or you pay 25% interest from some slick car dealer trying to sell to those with bad credit).
Walk away = live in misery. Imagine if you buy another house elsewhere before you "walk away" from your Schenectady house, and then in your new house, despite paying mortgage on time but when you have an emergency like having to replace your roof or furnace you can't get credit to do so.
Walk away = live in misery. Imagine walking way and you apply for a job in a couple years and the employer won't hire you because your credit is bad (yes, many employers DO look at your credit history and bad credit can preclude you from getting a job).
Walk away = live in misery. Imagine walking away but first you find an apartment to rent. Then a couple year down the road for some reason, you need to move and NO ONE will rent to you because your credit is ruined.
Homeowners in Schenectady are STUCK while Galesi laughs all the way to the bank (and then he can gives hefty campaign donations to those who give him these tax exemptions; and surely because he has so many different company names, he can probably donate under many names)
Marcella is laughing all the way to the bank as well.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Folks who post here and folks we talk to are looking for a leader/solution. We all know that taxes are out of control. We all know that METROPLEX/GILLEN is legal corruption. We all know that the school district is substandard. We all know that crime is rampant. We all know that the roads in the city are barely passable. We all know the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. We all know that the dss building is filled to capacity daily. WE ALL GET IT.....so NOW....what do we do about it?

You may be correct. But hopefully, a leader with the guts to campaign on reversing the Metroplex and tax incentives and taking on the unions emerges. one that will cut wasteful spending. one that will cut the patronage jobs. one that will privatize the nursing home. one that will privatize trash pick up. one that will make welfare benefits harder to attain.

The "we all" (if you are referring to these boards) is "we all minus one."
The people in the city are fooled by the pretty brick and mortar downtown. I think the majority really do not have a clue that they are the ones who largely paid for the building and are today paying the taxes on those buildings. The people in the city most likely don't have a clue that the lavish Key Hall of Proctors is defined as a not-for-profit, but he hold lavish and very very expensive weddings and other parties, Morris is making bucks, and by virtue of the city defining it as such and permanent 100% exemption forever, it also has an unfair advantage over all it's competition.
Voters see the "pretty" buildings downtown and don't make the connection that the huge numbers of foreclosures is a direct result of downtown.
I don't know if the city is still putting the foreclosures in the newspaper, but the list must be printed (obviously the city won't do it) with a heading "Homeowners losing their homes because tax bills include the cost of the taxes for downtown.
Metroplex accountability. HA HA. There needs to be a list published of all properties involved in Metroplex projects and list the property owners and what their net worth is. A heading should be "Homeonwers of Schenectady, you are paying extra taxes for these downtown property owners."
People just don't make the connection. But many are too busy to pay attention, they are probably working two jobs just to pay the taxes and have no time to research to find out why they are paying such high taxes.
How many people, do you think, that live IN the city regularly look at the monthly realty reports that show the falling home sales and falling home sale prices in the city and then look at the reports outside the city and see the increases.
The city put something out a while back about their "HOMES" program. How many people in the city have seen the half million cost in the city budget to pay for the city's attempt to sell homes? The city put out something a while ago, it was something with pictures of houses in surrounding locations and included a house in the city. The thing showed the asking prices of the houses at the time but the city, and because the city homes are falling in value so badly, the city put in big print that buyers get more for their money by buying in the city. But first the city did NOT put the addresses of the houses in the brochure, so nothing can be verified and the city did not show in the bar graph what part of the price is taxes. And the city did not list with these houses what their values were 2 years ago, 3 years ago, etc. which is what would open the eyes of people in the city -- upon seeing the falling home values in Schenectady and increasing values outside the city.
Gosh, everyone in the city who votes should be given the images posted on here showing what has happened to houses in the city.

MC1. I agree with you 100% on all these items, however it is over the head for 90% of the voters. The person who can communicate in very simple and couple of sentence manner is going to get elected. Otherwise they will just sound like another Ron Paul or Nadar. Sad but true. Simple Communication is key. I really wish Comprehension ruled but it doesnt.
The facts get lost in all your and my attacks on DVOR. Let's keep it simple. Post just the facts, leave him out of it and then repost your facts again when he trolls and we will all get the word out better. He is endorsing non Democrats.....it says it all. He is there to confuse people and to bury the facts and he is winning.

Could somebody explain to me without the rhetoric, why some of you folks are so hung up on what DV/DVOR says. I mean I'm lost on this one. Does he hold some kind of spell over you all? Does he intimidate you? Is he that powerful? Really, what is the obsession? If you ask me, if his goal was to get under your skin, I say job well done. He's got you all spooked. The more I think about it the more I laugh. You really don't get how foolish you sound.

I am endorsing Republican candidates for Governor, U.S, Congress and the State Senate because I believe that these individuals are the BEST choice for the offices that they are running for. Furthermore, you are deluding yourself if you believe that I only endorse, campaign for and vote for Democrats. I have endorsed, financially supported, campaigned for and voted for candidates from BOTH political parties. Members of my extended family have run - and won - elected to public office - some as Republicans and others as Democrats.
You are grossly out of touch with reality if you think for a moment that I am trying to confuse anyone, bury facts, am a "mouth piece" or "puppet" for anyone or any other nefarious thing. I believe what I believe -- am exercising my constitutional right to express my opinions and will continue to do so - independent of ANY partisan political committee - until the day that I die.
