Huh?   EVERYONE knows that the money was invested IN the community.  Therefore, the money was NOT taken out of the local economy.  These projects create jobs during the construction phase and once completed -- so these workers have money to spend.

that's funny.....very very very interesting OK that you give the government....I understand you 'don't like entrepreneurs'
but accepting the government taking $$ and giving it to them under the guise of 'control' is self delusional....

explain to me how you think the UNHOLY alliance between government and entrepreneurship is OK....

because the ONLY issue that I see regarding government over sight is that which controls investment BANKERS....and
your F'EN mortgage and the package they are wrapped in, which can be international....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I'm not sure the elderly living on Hamilton Hill on a fixed income at poverty levels that has to pay 1/2 percent extra on every taxable purchase will ever be able to afford a dinner at Johnny's.  Millionaires are stealing from the poor through a regressive sales tax, to give it to businesses they will never be able to afford to patronize.  The poor are being deprived of money that could buy them necessities like laundry detergent, school supplies, and other taxable goods, so Mallozzi, Mazzone, and Galesi can make more money.

Metrolex is one of the most immoral scams to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich that I've ever seen.  And to see democrats champion it and get away with it amazes me.

You are incorrect in your "understanding."  I have great respect and admiration for entrepreneurs.

The private sector (entrepreneurs) puts up the lion's share of the redevelopment money.  Metroplex puts up only a small portion of the funding.

Now you on the other hand, seem to hate yourself because you hate government -- in a democratic, republic like ours --- YOU are the government.  Therefore, you must hate and distrust yourself.

Yawn -- just another "we hate (are jealous of) Democrats and the Mallozzi's, Mazzone's and Galesi's" rant from the nayboobs.

Just babble who REFUSES to explain what the homeowners who are paying for all this are getting in return for their FORCED investment in downtown

Just babble who REFUSES to address why people are losing their homes due to inability to pay the taxes of the millionaires downtown.

Just babble who REFUSES to explain HOW the wild spending of taxpayers money on millionaires is helping the city.

But the FACTS and EVIDENCE speak for themselves (and prove DV 100% WRONG).

All the tax money on downtown has resulted in the following:

MASSIVELY FALLING tax base
FALLING sales tax revenue
Falling property values, INCLUDING falling values in downtown
Falling home sales
Falling home sale prices
Hundreds of people putting houses up for sale trying to flee the city.
Virtually NO ONE buying houses IN the city.
Beautiful old very well built houses in nice neighborhoods listed for sale for years and no one wants to buy them.
Elimination of ESSENTIAL ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY SERVICES to the TAXPAYERS in the neighborhoods such as but not limited to:
-- proper road paving
-- snow plowing
-- animal control
-- critically needed reassessment
-- enforcing trash preparation/separation/storage laws
Increase in mortgage foreclosures
Increase in tax foreclosures
DOUBLE MASSIVE INCREASE in empty boarded up homes.
Blight spreading like wildfire throughout the NEIGHBORHOODS where the PEOPLE livw
Increase in crime
Increase in tax bills
More increase in tax bills
Even more increase in tax bills
Another increase in tax bills.

ABSOLUTELY ALL developers and property owners downtown can MORE THAN AFFORD to build or renovate their own buildings.

There is NO NEED WHATSOEVER for the homeowners in the city to pay for the demolition of the old DSS building owned by the billionaire Galesi

And again, the following is the EXCLUSIVELY the result of taxpayer handouts to downtown millionaires.

DOWNTOWN BUIDLING FALLS IN VALUE FROM $1.6 MILLION to less than $300,000 in just a mere 4 years (did not get Metroplex money)

How about a list of tax certiorari lawsuits

One and half years available for sale.   Taxes calculate on $182,000.   Last offered for sale with asking price of $107,000  MAYOR REFUSES TO DO A REASSESSMENT.  Mayor had his gal Mary Mary trying to sell it.   Mayor featured the house in the taxpayer funded attempt at selling houses.   NO ONE WANTS TO BUY HOUSES IN THE CITY

The LIES LIES LIES from the city and their political croney real estate people

When the real official truth from sales records and deeds proves the city and their cronies lie.

Oh but look at what the guy who lied on a legal document about having a STAR exemption gets for his FOR PROFIT business, a building value at a whopping $25 MILLION and not one red cent in taxes.   But tens of millions in taxpayer handouts, and then forcing limited income, lower income, volunteers to pay him money to volunteer!!!!!!!!!!

This is why homeowners cannot afford to repair their houses
This is why homeowners cannot afford to pay the property and school tax bills

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I am the government of my self.....I don't hate the government but I certainly don't think government should be
so insidiously allowed/accepted/pushed into our homes/lives under the guise of 'we know better than you, you're
not safe and you're not secure'.........

obviously the government is NOT a person and doesn't know....

like I heard this morning "a downtown does NOT make a city"

Whoever made that statement is mistaken/clueless.
The urban center is vital to the health of the surrounding neighborhoods that make up a city.  If you let the urban center decline and deteriorate, the rest of the city will go down with it.  The most successful efforts to revitalize cities in this country began by reviving the urban center.

The 'rest of the city' is continually going down.
The rich are getting richer.
The DSS building is filled to capacity with no relief in sight.
Home values are declining while taxes are soaring.
The school system is substandard, at best.
Crime is rampant.
so altho your theory may work in some areas....it clearly is not working in Schenectady.

GE hasn't left.  While it doesn't employ as many people as it did years ago, it is still here.  New employers are coming in.  Schenectady's best years are still to come.

It isn't my theory.  It has something that has been implemented and proven successful in cities across the country.  And -- YES -- it is working in Schenectady.  The City-County of Schenectady is in a better position than it was 11 -12 years ago.  The City-County of Schenectady is moving in the right direction.

Downtown, Mallozzi, Mazzone, Galesi and Phillip Morris are in a better position than THEY were 11-12 years ago....
EVERYONE can agree that it is not the same for the over burdened tax payer.
