they had him on too late. Most folks were already at work. Wish they had him on earlier.
His first 2 hours are consumed with advertising. And it's beginning to sound like ESPN.
He caters to the folks who fill his pockets. (advertisers)
He use to have open line 'call ins' every day...not no more!!!

I quite agree.

We listen if we remember.  But we remember the day when we would not miss Paul's shows.  He'll have guests on occasionally (or a call in with a guest) such as Riggi, or someone in other governments because of a somewhat major news issue that occurs and he'll get someone in.  I actually caught the show right before the 10 am. news today and I guess he had a local police chief or investigator person to give perspective on what police investigators have to investigate regarding the Canandaigua issue.  I wish I listened to that one because in an investigation of that, no average police officer can grasp the mechanics of the sprint cars.

But true, he has interesting guests on some major issue periodically.

Other than that, his "guess" are his co-owners, advertisers, partners who are obviously paying him well for their "free" advertising.  Sometimes however, he has his attorney buddies on maybe to discuss anything from a local criminal case to a supreme court decision and those things are interesting regardless of whether they are his benefactors.

But I do wish he'd have more call in time and talk about these issues.  Heck, he could dedicate a day each week to a county (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer) and then use the 5th day to have is advertisers.

And too many commercials each hour

Guess we will listen to the podcast when it's up

Vince Riggi is a good person.  I will even say that he is a good City Councilperson.

He should have gone on another station.  No one listens to 1300 AM.

Ah ha!!!!!!    DV is admitting all of us "nayboobs" are correct.   OR DV's nose is growing even longer after his post above.  We were right all along, DV was the one who was wrong, but he will NEVER NEVER admit it.

June 6, 2013
Mr. Riggi is not qualified to be mayor.  The fact is that Mayor McCarthy is doing a great job, and he had already provided the same information to the residents of the city.  Mr. Riggi just likes to get his face on tv and his name in the newspaper without actually having to DO something.

But the FACT is that the mayor (and the city DEMS---council & dept heads) has been doing TERRIBLE job as the EVIDENCE proves:   the massively falling tax base, falling home values, (newer) homeowners quickly becoming underwater on mortgages, falling home sales, falling home sale prices, reduction of ESSENTIAL services to the residents, increasing taxes, focus on the brick and mortar downtown and the properties owned by millionaires but totally ignoring the neighborhoods where financially struggling homeowners live.

Nov 22, 2011

I attended many City Council meetings IN THE PAST …. putting up with …. Riggi was sickening enough.

November 22, 2011
I have attended many City Council meetings in the past -- and have seen how these two operate.  Riggi ….. are like little dogs always --- endlessly and futilely barking at nothing.   Their parking doesn't accomplish anything and at some point everyone else just ignores them.

November 21, 2011
The Rotterdam Republicans/No New Tax partiers -- and in the city the likes of …..and Riggi want to slash and eradicate the budgets of all vital public services..... therefore  these folks must be held liable and accountable for every failure and problem in our public safety system.

Gee the DEMS have slashed the budgets of vital services DUH!  LOOK IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS    Failure to properly plow the snow, failure to keep streets in the neighborhoods adequately paved, failure to check on houses the city owns such that houses blow up.

November 15, 2011
And Riggi is a "loose cannon" --- will make a fool of himself and of the "alliance party" -- you see it is easy for big mouths like … and Riggi to stand on the OTHER SIDE OF THE RAIL and criticize ... but these folks have no clue how to actually govern.    On the rare occasion when they do get elected to office - they stumble all over themselves and make jack asses out of themselves and leave their constituency WORSE OFF.

November 10, 2011

That is why I have no respect for people like Vince Riggi, …  and haven't offered anything constructive  in years -- if at all.

October 14, 2011

my theory is that the color represents the bull sh*t that … and Riggi and their comrades are shoveling.

October 4, 2011
Mr. Riggi is Schenectady's version of Kelly Rhinesmith --  a misguided pain in the a**.

October 3, 2011
Roger the Cat probably knows more about running a city than … and Vince Riggi combined.

A good councilperson is someone who articulates his/her point of view with some degree of consistency and clarity and isn't afraid to be the "minority view" on an issue.  One doesn't have to agree or disagree with a person to make an objective judgement on that.

A good councilperson is someone who tries to represent the entire community and is involved in the community.  I have seen Mr. Riggi attend and participate in community events.

Unlike "nayboobs" who whine & complain and launch baseless tirades & uninformed personal attacks,  I think Mr. Riggi actually loves his community and is trying to do something positive to help the community.

Would I voted for Mr. Riggi when he first ran? No.   Would I vote for Mr. Riggi for mayor?  No.   Would I vote for Mr. Riggi reelection to the City Council?  I can't say immediately say yes nor could I immediately say no -- I would have to think very seriously about it.   (I have voted for Republicans in the past and will do so in the future.  My ballot is pretty well split between the 2 major parties locally.  There are some Democrats that have never and/or will never receive my vote.  I vote for the person NOT for the party.)

Oh -- and I still wouldn't listen to 1300 AM.

.

Unlike "nayboobs" who whine & complain and launch baseless tirades

How about "nayboobs" do NOT complain or launch tirades, but rather state FACTS and provide the EVIDENCE.

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS that Marcella is a TAX DEADBEAT.   Proof of his being a TAX DEADBEAT is a FACT and it is supported with EVIDENCE and his tax delinquency is causing higher taxes on financially struggling homeowners.   His business has $14 MILLION in profits but the financially struggling homeowners have to pay the taxes on his old properties AFTER the taxpayers had their taxes hiked to reward him with a $2 million building and a 100% tax exemption????

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS and providing EVIDENCE that the city DEMS having been causing a MASSIVE REDUCTION in the city's tax base by the giveaways to downtown milionaires as that also causes taxes on homes to increase.

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS and providing EVIDENCE that the city/county/plex DEMS spending the taxpayers money on downtown is causing long time good homeowners to lose their homes to tax foreclosure because the homeowners CANNOT afford to pay the taxes of the downtown properties.

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS and providing EVIDENCE that the billionaire politica crony of Galesi bought the old DSS building but the city DEMS are forcing the financially struggling homeowners to pay for the demo of a building owned by a billionaire.

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS and providing EVIDENCE that the city dems' focus on downtown and ignoring neighborhoods and their wild spending is causing homes to fall in value and the dems REFUSE to do a reassessment

"Nayboobs" stating FACTS and providing EVIDENCE that the city dems' focus on downtown is causing people to flee the city and few choosing to buy a house IN the city.   DV are YOU buying a house in the city that you claim is in a renaissance?????    Why not??????

And when are YOU going to provide one teeny weeny shred of proof of your claim that taxes are lower now than in the 1970's????????

Truth hurts

Vandenburg has one of the worst shows on A.M. radio -- whining and complaining .. one note .. like all the other nayboobs.  He is also a schmuck for firing Al Roney.  Al Roney was actually interesting to listen to (unlike Vandenburg) and was tuning into.  1300 AM is all about Vandenburg -- probably the inside of the place is plastered with pictures of Paul and mirrors so he can see himself all the time.  He couldn't handle someone with actual radio talk show talent upstaging him  -- so he had to get rid of Al Roney.

That's right, avoid talking about the post and address how the "nayboobs" do NOT complain, but rather provide FACTS and support those facts with EVIDENCE.

Where is YOUR evidence of your claim that taxes are lower now than in the 1970's?????    Why do you avoid answering that?

It is appropriate that Deli Warehouse was a sponsor for so many years.  The station exists to peddle baloney.

The only thing worth listening to on 1300AM is when Sal Ferlazzo shares his mother’s meatball recipe.

I agree on some points. I don't think it is the worst.....YET!
Not enough 'call in's'.
When his show is from Mohawk Honda....1/2 of the show is ABOUT Mohawk Honda!
When his show is from the Fairfield Inn.....1/2 of the show is ABOUT the Fairfield.
Same with the Train Station, CDTA, Florida/Trustco.
At one time is was a talk radio station geared to the local issues with local folks calling in to voice their opinions.
Something the Capital District needs badly!
Now it appears that it is almost ALL geared toward his 'advertisers'!!!

Al Roney hosted a talk show that was geared towards the Capital Region. Vandenburg dumped him.

Bring back Al.  Get some other local hosts and maybe it would be worth listening to,
