C'mon...Look at the DA.  Pure conjecture printed in the USATODAY.  But...He didn't reveal the Grand Jury vote tally...NOOOOO...He couldn't do that.  It may have been close.  Can't have that go public.  That may harm Stewarts reputation if it was close.  So lets have a press conference and publicize the dead victim's toxicology report, and make sure the DA infers that the Grand Jury BLAMED WARD FOR THE ACCIDENT.  C'mon.  What an abuse of his office.

Quoted Text
Tantillo did not reveal the vote tally but said he believed  the grand jury blamed Ward
for the accident.

“The grand jury was never tasked with the responsibility of anything other than to determine
whether there was enough evidence to file charges against Tony Stewart,” Tantillo said in a
news conference.
“They were not considering whether anybody else was at fault. However, I am sure from their
deliberations and discussions that the fact that Kevin Ward was observed running basically
down two-thirds of the track into a hot track in the middle of other cars that were still racing
played a big, big factor in their decision.”

Public relations firms aren't conspirators.  They are REAL...No cover up...Just public relations for a public figure.  Man, I thought you would know a little about them.

Point was that you can't accept that this was not contrived by any PR firm...there is always
an evil element behind the scenes in your world!

Yes, that's because if you knew anything about PR, you would know how they operate.  I never said anything was evil about it, just that the press reported information irrelevant to the Grand Jury findings, and the value of the story the way it was written was only beneficial to Stewart's public image.  The Grand Jury was there to see if there was enough evidence to charge Stewart with a crime, not Ward.

News Alert!!!  PR firms are a behind the scenes world.  They get paid millions to influence people and news outlets to run stories that benefit their clients public perception.  Job well done.  Tony Stewart hit and killed a kid high on marijuana that jumped in front of Tony's car.  Now that's a good story.  People can go back to buying Tony Stewart merchandise, because there was nothing Tony could do to avoid killing Ward'.  As a matter of fact, Stewart was the victim of a high reckless kid running in front of him on the track - end of story.

I understand about PR firms, their purposes and how they do things...that was not the point.
As usual, you miss the real point (intentionally). Enjoy your world!

The DA played this perfectly...He probably knew there was no evidence whatsoever that Stewart was to blame, but this kid was a local boy and I'm sure there were members of the local community that had doubts. So, he goes through the process of having a grand jury of LOCAL residents review the case...
The stress of the Marijuana in the kids system was probably more to the give the public a reason for the kids action.

Look, this DA is no rookie.. he has been re-elected several times and is actually in the middle of his term. Tony Stewart will probably not set foot on that racetrack, or county, ever again.
If the DA were to show his allegiance, who do you think he'd lean toward? His local constituents, or a racer that he probably never see in his county again?

Stop with the silly conspiracy thoughts...in this case, it holds water as well as a colander.

What is it with conspiracy?  You just gave your theory on why the DA publicly commented the way he did.  Is that not a conspiracy?  Geez...it's as if all opinions that take into question an official statement are conspiracies.

Question:  did the Grand Jury call their own toxicologist to offer his/her opinion on the results?  Who requested the toxicology test, the Grand Jury or the DA?  Was the Ward family able to get their own toxicologist to dispute the findings?

The fact is, nobody knows facts of the Grand Jury investigation.  My opinion is(not conspiracy) the civil trial will have a much more thorough investigation and a lot more admissible evidence.  The DA's press statement never mentions Stewart's role in the accident and whether he, as a professional driver, could have avoided the accident.  In my opinion, the toxicology report is going to be Stewart's defense in the civil trial, used to place blame on Ward.  I believe the Ward attorneys  will find a toxicologist that will dispute to findings of toxicology results and Wards level of impairment if any, was the cause of his death.

Your opinion introduced Stewart's phantom PR team into the equation..that suggests conspiracy...My opinion was based on what I thought the DA's reasoning was..not a conspiracy, unless you think a conspiracy can have only participant.

And btw, you don't understand the grand jury process... The Grand jury cannot subpeona ANYONE..only the DA can, so your question about that is moot.
The same goes with Ward Family...this is NOT a trial or pre-trial. The process exists to see if the DA has enough evidence for an indictment.. and that is IT.

There was more things that just the Marijuana... There was testimony from the racer that barely missed Ward, the racer directly in back of Stewart and two enhanced videos...apparently NONE of them contained enough evidence to indict Stewart. The DA didn't need to mention Stewart's role because the criminal inquiry is over...period...  and frankly his opinion doesn't matter now anyway..
I hope the civil suit does go to trial, but I doubt that it will....Stewart will most likely accept a reasonable payout to avoid the trial...If Wards parents except an out of court settlement, without an admission of guilt, then you know where their motives lie.

Tony Stewart is a spokesperson for multi billion dollar corporations MOBIL 1 and Coca Cola.  To believe that Tony Stewart didn't have a team of lawyers and PR people to control this is naïve.  After the DA's announcement that the Grand Jury did not have enough evidence to bring charges, MOBIL ONE released a statement announcing that Stewarts sponsorship was still intact.

As far as the family settling on a civil suit, the settlement would have more to do with the ability to afford the attorneys than a payday.  I think it is safe to say, the Ward family isn't going to outspend Tony Stewart for attorney costs.  Stewart can afford to drag this out and suck the Ward's dry.  Stewart is backed by billion dollar corporations protecting their business investment.

Quoted Text
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Mobil 1, the primary sponsor for Tony Stewart, said its funding for the three-time NASCAR champion remains unchanged.

An upstate New York grand jury on Wednesday declined to charge Stewart for the Aug. 9 death of Kevin Ward Jr. The sprint car driver died when he was struck by Stewart’s car as Ward walked on the track.

Mobil 1 said in a statement: “The accident has been a terrible tragedy for all involved and our thoughts remain with the Ward family and Tony Stewart.”

Bass Pro Shops and Rush Truck Centers, two of Stewart’s other top sponsors, both strongly supported the driver when he made his return to racing after three weeks in seclusion.

The CEOs for both companies stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Stewart at his car before the race.

So, you are implying a conspiracy and possible criminal conduct by a long time DA, correct?

Most attorneys...if they see a payday in a civil suit, will GLADLY represent a client with the agreement that they get nothing unless the client collects..
If they can't find one to do that, then it says a lot of about their "case", doesn't it?

this was not a win win in my eyes....if.Stewart has has any conscience he has to live with this the rest of his life.....and is he really the racer

that the sponsors seem to think and provide much moolah ????????....this is not where you can use rage like in hockey or football and

somehow it seems right...

the fans want this ...they want to see accidents...they want to see the horrific side...

the thrill of winning and the agony of defeat...that is not on Stewart's behavior..

I'm not implying a criminal conspiracy.  I'm implying he could have said a number of things at his press conference.  The information he released(toxicology report) and his belief on why the Grand Jury came to their conclusion because Ward was at fault was very selective, and it certainly was skewed to make Ward look like the criminal.

I agree about the attorney's will represent them for a percentage of the settlement.  But the Wards can't compel these attorney's to represent them if the attorney's think they will make more money taking the settlement than going back and forth to court.  The attorney's are working for money, it's business, and if the Wards don't have the money, the lawyers will take the settlement most advantageous to them, not the Wards.  If the Wards could pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, their attorney's would do what ever the Ward's want.

I'm just saying, don't take the Ward's settling out of court as an indication that the Ward's only care about the money, they most likely can only get what they can afford.  And when going up against Mobil money, I don't think the Ward's can hang with them.

It doesn't matter whether Mr. Ward has marijuana in his system or not, he should never have gotten out of his car and walked TOWARDS the moving vehicles in his vain - and deadly to himself - attempt to show his anger at another driver.  Common sense should have ruled the day.  If it had, Mr. Ward would have lived to race another day and - judging but what many have said - have had a good, successful racing career ahead of him.
I think those who are trying to pin the blame on Tony Stewart are the ones who are looking for a scapegoat.  And many of those who are doing it in this venue, are people who CLAIM to believe in personal responsibility.  Mr. Ward displayed extremely irresponsible behavior and it cost him his life.  Sad to say, he could have chosen to take a different course of action and, therefore, he is responsible and had to endure the ultimate consequences for his reckless actions.

DV GIVE IT UP!   Don't bother posting on topic you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about.   You do not follow racing, you don't know one type of car from another.   I could state a driver name in your presence and you would NOT be able to tell me what kind of racing it is.

While I personally don't think Stewart would have jeopardized his lucrative NASCAR career, the fact that he has temper issues and the fact that PR can indeed cover up Stewart being at fault and the fact that, contrary to what YOU said that "all the information" has been presented (your post about the grand jury), we really do NOT know if all the information was presented and presented accurately.   Tell us DV, WHO are the drivers that were witnesses in the grand jury?   Long experienced sprint car drivers?   Rookies?   Perhaps dirt mod drivers that race sprints occasionally like Stewart does?   Since we do NOT know WHO the drivers are that were part of the grand jury, we do not know if they are totally knowledgeable to speak.   Accident reconstruction people?   Who were they?   The people that conduct such reconstructions that occur on the Thruway or some municipal street?   Or are they exclusively accident reconstruction people who deal with racing and with sprint cars?    So DV, who are these accident reconstruction people?   What is their experience?

As one who follows racing, I can speak with intelligence (unlike you).  I can fully understand how people can say that Stewart intentionally did something, even just to try to scare Ward, but which ended up causing his death.   I am by no means an accident reconstruction person, but unlike you, I have the brains to know that accident reconstruction is very different for this incident than an accident on a municipal street or even at  NASCAR track.   In fact, it would be FACT that if this had been a mod race on this track under EXACTLY the same conditions, the details would be totally different than a sprint race!

The FACT is DV, YOU ARE WRONG, that we do NOT know that all information was presented.

Agreed, it was the right thing to do -- having the Grand Jury look at all the information.

Grand jury is one sided and secret (just like your buddy dems in the city, county, and plex)

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
