Are the home values going up? Are the tax bills going down? Are essential services to residents like trash collection, snow plowing, etc getting better? Is the city doing a citywide reassessment? Are homeowners who need to sell or want to sell successful?
Come on DV, since the city's tax base is FALLING and the tax BILLS on the homeowners are increasing while the home values are falling, would you care to explain what the benefit is for the homeowner/taxpayers????????????

Many "nayboobs" are THE VERY PEOPLE who WOULD provide lots and lots of economic benefit to the city if they could afford to renovate their homes, apply (and pay for) building permits, improve their homes which would increase home value which would increase their assessment value which would increase the city's tax base.
If they had money to renovate, redo, update their homes, or add decks, pools, etc, they would be hiring contractors who would be getting paid who would have money to spend to buy things, and many of the materials would require sales tax to be collected.
If "nayboobs" had money to put all new appliances in their homes, that would be an economic benefit to the city because of sales tax that would be charged.
If the "nayboobs" could afford to buy a house they would be paying lots of taxes involved in the closing (of course since you are NOT a taxpayers and never have been, you would not know these things.
If the "nayboobs" could get the message across to everyone, and eliminate the current corruption in the city and all the tax exemptions, then people would actually buy houses IN the city and live in them and fix them up and with lower taxes they would have money to spend and sales tax would increase. Just to confirm, you do know that sales tax revenue in Schenectady isFALLING !!!!!!!!! Just like the city's tax base is FALLING !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are moving to Rotterdam, make sure you get approved for a mortgage BEFORE you lose your credit worthiness from leaving your city house behind.

IF he really owned properties and they were increasing in value, AND IF the city of Schenectady is improving as much as he claims, he would be buying up houses left and right in the city based on the low prices AND low interest rates. DV claims that the city is in this great renaissance and is improving and IF SO, then property values would be on the rise and any INTELLIGENT person would buy now in Schenectady because there houses would be gaining in value.
So the question for DV would be, if the city in in a renaissance, why would he avoid buying houses at low prices and low mortgage rates? Why would anyone wait until the asking price of a house increases from $50,000 to $100,000 and mortgage rates double?
And IF he had properties that were gaining in value, why would he, at 52 years old be living with two mommies instead of living as a NORMAL adult man, independent?????
