NY21 Dem candidate Aaron Woolf has some surprising proposals
Quoted Text
Five Steps to Change Congress:
-No budget, no pay for Congress – for real
-No funding for, nor use of, a taxpayer-funded gym or salon and barber shop by members of Congress on the public dime. It is unconscionable that numerous individuals in the -House of Representatives took advantage of these perks during the shutdown of the government while federal employees could not get paid.
-No funding for, nor use of, taxpayer money to pay for the rent or lease of vehicles.
-No funding for, nor use of, health care “perks” that are not available to the general public. Numerous lawmakers that have voted repeatedly to repeal the Affordable Care Act have voted for themselves taxpayer-funded lifetime health care plans.
-No travel under the “charter jet” loophole allowing members of Congress to use political campaign funds to upgrade a privately-funded flight to first class travel.
As [Woolf] explained, “I am running for Congress to represent New York’s 21st District and bring the region’s spirit of independence, practicality, and hard work to Washington. Washington needs our bipartisan, cooperative spirit—we do not need more of Washington’s divisive attitudes determining how we live here. I plan to adopt these common sense reforms to demonstrate that what is fair in the North Country, like personally paying for personal benefits that we utilize, is also fair in Washington. We should be directing hard-earned taxpayer money towards creating jobs, investing in our region, and growing our economy, not for plush congressional benefits. As a Congressman, I will live by the same rules that apply to my fellow New York 21 residents.”
So what do you think? Are these proposals a good idea?

These are the most important issues facing our nation? While I applaud his position opposing special privilege for those representatives in Congress, I would like to hear his position and plans, if elected, on the major issues and learn of his ideology re: the role of government.

He's a multimillionaire, limousine, pro-death liberal who actually lives in Brooklyn. If he were any good, he'd have run for Congress from a district in Brooklyn. (btw .. Box is his first name really Arpm ? or did you graduate from some hippie run, liberal public school?)

“The more we all learn about Manhattan multimillionaire and Brooklyn restaurateur Aaron Woolf the more we all have to scratch our heads and wonder why this guy is qualified to run a lemonade stand, never mind represent the North Country in Congress," said the NRCC's Ian Prior in a statement.
"Whether he is being sued for stiffing employees of their wages, receiving 83 health code violations, or getting hit with warrants for unpaid taxes, Woolf has proven his experience as a small business owner is the last thing he should be touting on the campaign trail.”

Elise Stefanik, a prominent Washington D.C. political operative and former Bush aide who is now running for Congress in New York's 21st Congressional District, which contains most of the state's North Country, Adirondack and Upper Hudson Valley regions. Elise Stefanik currently doesn't own or rent property anywhere in the State of New York or the 21st Congressional District. The only property which Stefanik is currently believed to pay taxes on is a Washington D.C. townhouse, assessed at $1.3 million, which she partially owns. Last summer, Stefanik declared her legal residency at her family's long-time vacation home on Lake Champlain in Willsboro, deeded to her parents. Under New York State law, a congressional candidate is not required to maintain residency in the district where they run for office, but they must be a full-time resident of the State of New York in order to assume office. Reviewing the preliminary facts and information, it seems that Stefanik's residency in New York appears shaky at best.

The same rule would apply to Kennedy and Clinton as well and they were elected.
Hillary & Bill bought a house in Chappaqua NY before Hillary ran and won the NY Senator seat. They still own that house.

Update, 29 December 2000: "President Clinton and Senator-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton signed a contract today to buy a five-bedroom, brick colonial-style house [in Washington, D.C.] near Embassy Row for $2.85 million. Mrs. Clinton plans to use the Washington house when the Senate is in session and as a base to write her memoirs, officials said. The Clintons have designated their home in Chappaqua, N.Y., which they bought last year for $1.7 million as their primary residence." (Christopher Marquis, "Clintons Buy $2.85 Million Washington Home", NYT on the Web, 30Dec00) She's still a carpet bagger, wouldn't even run for a position in Arkansas because she would not get elected. Kennedy was no better.

LOL Shadow. Clinton bought a home in NY and declared it as her residence. Just like any other candidate who runs for national office. EXCEPT... Elise Stefanik currently doesn't own or rent property anywhere in the State of New York or the 21st Congressional District. The only property which Stefanik is currently believed to pay taxes on is a Washington D.C. townhouse.
