"SCHENECTADY - The manual theater marquee over Proctors will soon be renovated as the venerable downtown entertainment center prepares to install a new, electronic marquee.
Upgrading the marquee is one of the few things left to be done to the theater which underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that was the centerpiece of a decade-long effort to redevelop downtown.
Last year, the Metroplex Development Authority announced tax dollars would be used to renovate the marquee.
Metroplex's board of directors pledged $97,000 toward the $193,000 cost of restoring the three-decades old marquee facing State Street. A smaller marquee behind Proctors facing Stratton Plaza will also be renovated.
The upgrades by Olson Signs and Graphics in Scotia will allow the theater to stream video about shows and attractions and should be online by year's end.
At the time, Proctors CEO Philip Morris said Proctors will "add to the energy and look with modern graphics within our historic marquees."
like a 10 dollar whore in a 5 dollar town...just what it needs...a new neon sign..keep upgrading the bright and shiny downtown
they are apparently trying to appeal to the 'youngin's'! modernizing it....I guess.

CLEARLY Proctors must be removed from the register of historic places.
The marquee was historic, it no longer will be
Obviously King Phillip is too cheap to pay a human to make the changes.

Yuck. Who wants streaming video playing?! Won't that just clash and ruin the look of the new downtown facade? No, very bad idea. Replacing it with a more energy efficient look alike would be one thing, but the old fashion nostalgic look of the sign is the only thins that connects most people in this city to Proctors anymore. None of us can afford to go anymore.

Waiting for the message to be posted from DV, the cheerleader, bowing down to praise King Phillip and the elimination of a historic marquee
Oh wait, he couldn't even bend 5 degrees forward

we want that 'americana-tokyo' feel of NYC.....as if being so urbane makes us better.....

Some people (nayboobs) have nothing else to do all day but complain. Maybe, they could actually DO something productive to help their community instead of sitting around and whining.

We have been doing something productive. We are trying to spread the TRUTH about the city, how the dem leadership is causing MASSIVE REDUCTION to property values while at the same time increasing taxes to the homeowners, all to the taxpayers money to the multimillionaires downtown.
Would YOU care to tell us what the taxpayers/homeowners have gotten from the in return for their forced "investment." ??????
Of course you won't reply because you can't state one thing that has been beneficial to the homeowners in the neighborhoods.

How about engaging in conversation about a LONG TIME DOWNTOWN TAXPAYING property suffering an almost 80% reduction in property value??????
Think DV, what a HUGE REDUTION in tax revenue that COULD be to the city !!!!!!!!!!!! However, the otherwise lost tax revenue will to be made up by the financially struggling homeowners.
Are you willing to engage in intelligent conversation based on the facts? Of course not, run away and avoid comment whenever you are proven wrong or when there is PROOF that your dem buddies are running the city, creating a ghost town.. CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK

There has been very little discussion in the past 5 or so years on this forum. Nayboobs whine, Someone disagrees with the Nayboobs -- the Nayboobs attack the person who disagrees. Same old sh*t - just a different day.
There is nothing wrong with a new marquee on Proctor's. There is nothing wrong with 98% of the improvements that have been made in the city and the county --- yet, you folks whine and complain .. and otherwise find some way to put it down.
