The following quote from the Legislative Correspondents' Association's annual political roast really troubles me.
"After hearing criticism about what he'll give to California Gov. Jerry Brown if the Rangers lose the Stanley Cup, Gov. Cuomo has come up with a new list: Rob Astorino, Schenectady and the finger.''
I don't think Schenectady has much of a chance getting any help from NYS whether it be a casino or any other big developement.

Metroplex barked back insults at Dinapoli when they completed their audit
McCarthy said that the City audits were not factual or were misleading.
Our City Administrators failure to consolidate the numerous County and city Authorities and services.
Cuomo will make us pay for our City Administration "talking back"

It's a sorry state of affairs when the County and City 'leaders' cannot get it through their thick heads that reputation of a City is everything. On top of all the examples you gave TIB, let's add the Raucci fiasco which showcased the school district as a dysfunctional institution...as well as the fact that the middle and high schools are consistently dangerous. As well, the City and County fail to take action or audit the abused department of social services ...the criminals who abuse the system and receive checks at PO Boxes, who move here from downstate because they are able to manipulate the system in Schenectady and the Galesi Group who received a $25 million NYS grant money to build the homeless shelter next to their DSS recently-repaired-eyesore.
Fact is the DEMS in the City and County take orders from people like Mallozi, Bucko, Civetello...the developers give the orders and the DEMS have no power.
The criminals are running the show on both ends of the spectrum.....
At the end of the day they are all DEMS OBAMA, HILLARY, GILLIBRAND, SCHUMER, CUOMO, MCCARTHY & COMPANY. THEY ARE ALL ONE! LEADING THIS COUNTRY, STATE, COUNTY AND CITY TO RUINS!
I'd put the odds of E. Greenbush winning the site are 3:2. I'd put Renselaer at 3:1, Schenectady at 5:1 and Howe's Cave at 20:1. Schenectady has big fish/small pond syndrome... The pols here carry little weight statewide.

The selection will favor local/home grown connections. East Greenbush-Saratoga Casino,established in the area/state. Keeps the money local. And Saratoga protects their turf (Saratoga Casino in Saratoga). Any outside casino cuts into their profit margin. DeLaets Landing-NYS OTB connection. Would think the siting board would go this way, or at least these 2 groups have an edge. Saratoga casino has not faced the numerous fines that have been levied against the casino group that wants to run the one in Schenectady. And they are outsiders. My pick-East Greenbush (Saratoga group).
