Officials provide update on mysterious fluid found in Mohawk River Updated: Tuesday, June 17 2014, 12:58 PM EDT GLENVILLE -- Officials have provided an update in the investigation into a mysterious red fluid that was found running into the Mohawk River. According to authorities, preliminary sampling results indicate the material consists of "numerous volatile organic compounds of unknown origin." They say that there have not been any more discharges, and so far, there have not been any signs the fluid had any impact on the environment. The DEC traced the original discharge to an area of the industrial park owned by the federal General Services Administration and leased by the Federal Defense Logistics Agency, which is helping with the investigation.
