Of course. The cop is paid his lavish salary from the ever increasing taxes paid by the financially struggling homeowners in the city (whose total household incomes are typically LESS THAN HALF of what this cop's pay is). And the cop never had to pay the city's high taxes.
And now the city leaders see fit to reward him with a lavish pension, courtesy of the financially struggling homeowners in the city.
More people in the city will decide to flee and put their houses up for sale which won't sell.
And the GHOST TOWN continues to spread.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

This was a problem case to begin with - it basically came down to asking a jury to take one person's word over another. Those are always difficult cases. And, even if you can prove he had his gun out - could the defense attorney make a case that he was acting in his capacity as a police officer ans brandished the firearm because he was on a traffic stop, without backup, etc. Not saying that is a rationale argument, just pointing out that a defense attorney can blur the lines enough to keep a juror frpm reaching the "beyond a reasonable doubt threshold. This was far from a slam dunk case. In those circumstances, the DA will take what the best deal they can get. Not saying anyone should like it or accept it - that's the way things work sometimes.
Cicero - "wave guns around and threaten people - that's what they do for a living". Suggestion - Do some reading about how often police actually use force, less than 2% of all encounters with citizens - use of a gun will be well under 1%,.
