The real estate blog, Movoto, has compiled data released by the FBI and ranked the most dangerous small cities in America.
Schenectady ranked #11 on this list.

The ranking looked at cities 50,000-75,000 in size and determined the order by the number of the following crimes: burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, murder, rape, robbery and assault.

To learn more about this report and how the ranking was compiled, read the Movoto blog.

Most of the 'dangerous' cities are in the south, with 8 of the 20 in Florida.

We are actually 9th when it comes to chances of getting murdered going by that list.

And Schenectady is one of the few in the North....there's something to be proud of....

Wow, maybe next year we can break into the top 10!!

What kind of State and Fed grant money comes with that? Oh wait...that's only for our most persistently dangerous high school.

Pathetic...shameful......

Probably the result of all the GunHugger assault weapons in the area.

Mayor McCarthy and his team are doing a great job in the city.  Keep up the good work.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Its the result of being a welfare city in decline where city officials don't even live in the city as well as our own police force, they see this city as a job not a project to make safer or better. The taxpayers of the city which are dwindling are the only things holding this city together and they're the ones getting the shaft.

Yup, guns drive people to murder...and cars cause people to drive drunk.

Notice how they had to throw in the Sandy Hook shooting like it is somehow linked to this raffle, the left eat this stuff up.

Taxpayer priorities are completely ignored by politicians.

So you risk your life every day living here.

At least people that visit can hang out in shiny buildings with neon lights.
