"Quirky is not a slum lord who lives out-of-town"- DemocraticVoiceOfReason

Would you rather have a tax paying slumlord or an out of town corporate welfare non- tax paying Quirky in Schenectady? Many would rather have a tax paying slumlord that is paying taxes here in Schenectady. What did Obama say "pay their fair share" how about the DEMS take their own advice and start doing what they preach!

I bet that most of the nayboobs are unaware of the similarities between GE coming to Schenectady 120+ years ago and out of town businesses like Mexican Restaurant and Quirky coming to Schenectady today.  All of them GE then and these new companies today, were given some form of incentives to come here.  GE got a good deal on an empty manufacturing building in which to set up shop.  Schenectady residents had to purchase stocks to help GE raise the capital needed to set up shop.  And finally, most of the first employees came from out of town -- and moved into Schenectady to take up employment.
Incentives and public investment $ sparked most of the major economic developments that spurred the growth of Schenectady and most of the U.S. economy --- from the Burr Bridge (the first Western Gateway Bridge) to the Erie Canal to the major rail lines that converged on Schenectady and other cities across America to the Interstate Highway system .. and on and on and on.
Metroplex is just following the same model and doing quite well with the task entrusted to it.
Viva la Renaissance!

But he can't provide a shred of evidence.

A private company coming in to order all residents to buy stock.  ROFL,   A private company CANNOT force people to invest in it.   Well at least not these days.  However, your buddy dems have chosen to force all city and county residents to pay the taxes of GE by chosig to exempt this multibillion dollar company from paying taxes.

But, the financially struggling homeowners in the city, do they ever get a break?   Have a house in the city and you want to remodel it, does the city give you money, just handouts, NO.  You pay yourself.  You are financially struggling so the city dems don't care.   But a multibillionaire such s Galesi, how can the city dare tell him he doesn't have to pay taxes, but the city can force the homeowners to keep paying higher taxes.

If ANY homeowner in the city paid less than the full amount shown on their tax bill and told the city that they are paying all but $X because that unpaid amount would be the portion billed to them to cover the exemptions of all the downtown rich political cronies, do you know what the city would do?   DO you know, DV????    The city would impose penalties on that unpaid portion AND the city WOULD foreclose on them after a couple years!!!!!

But see, DV, you just don't understand that the homeowners in the city simply cannot afford to pay the taxes of the downtown rich, but you would cheer cheer and shake those pom poms when the city forecloses on the homes of those who can't afford to pay additional cost on their tax bills to cover the tax bills of the downtown rich.

This is the pablum the DEMs serve to all their followers...these folks don't question, don't research facts and simply accept as gospel the inaccuracies and lies.

This is why McCheesy will never address the very real issue that the crime in the City is out of control or that families are fleeing the City.... the DEMS won't face reality. They hide in fantasy and expect everything to 'work out' by itself.

The nayboobs live in a fantasy world believing that doing absolutely nothing will somehow address the issues confronting our community and magically bring improvements.

Things that will improve the community would be:

Put all the millionaires' and billionaires' properties on the tax rolls which will result in a drastic INCREASE in the city's tax base.  Doing so will lower the tax bills on the financially struggling homeowners.

All the tens, hundreds of millions of dollars spent on downtown MUST be returned to the rightful owners of that money -- THE TAXPAYERS  -- by the downtown property owners, the developers.

Mayor and council must MANDATE that ALL city employees must IMMEDIATELY move into the city!

The city MUST IMMEDIATELY conduct a citywide reassessment.

Start returning all party activities and gatherings to Central Park.  Open up the skating at the park.

Start paving the road in the neighborhoods where the taxpayers live.

Mandate that all downtown property owners live IN the city!

That would be a good start. to a greatly improved city.  If it results in a cost to the millionaire and billionaire political cronies of the dems, then that would be fine, they DO have the money to afford the cost to them.   The homeowners in the city ARE BROKE -- -have you seen the ever increasing list of homeowners who do not have the money to pay the taxes of the downtown political cronies and the city is seizing the homes of these taxpayers?   have you seen that DV?????????

Um... 'government owned' means that Metroplex bought these locations and gave them away to developers like Galesi. they did have prior owners that were paying taxes until the Plex or the county decided to buy them. It's like saying the Trustco headquarters on Erie aren't paying taxes...yeah, that's because the County Leg bought it and hasn't done anything with it in years...leaving a huge hole in the taxbase.

Check out the Bowtie Cinema Galesi-owned location for example. A 7.5 million dollar building paying $62K up from $31k last year? How much did Galesi get for that building??

Let's see... Metroplex 'loaned' $3 million to Galesi for the property, plus a $750,000 façade grant, plus Bow Tie put another $2 million into the project plus Siemans is paying rent to Galesi as well.

Just to pay off the façade grant is going to take decades in tax money...so where does that leave the taxpayers???

Want me to take another building on your list to get to the truth???

And of course, since DV has no knowledge whatsoever about property taxes because DV is NOT a taxpayer, he is unable to respond.  He claims to "be" a taxpayer because he supposedly "contributes toward" the tax bill of his two mommies/nannies.  But seriously, he is like a little child who does not have a care in the world, he can blow every penny from his little job and never have to make adult decisions of whether to pay the tax bill or replace the roof (and his two mommies can afford to pay both and still have filet mignon for dinner every day).

But normal adults, like those in the city of Schenectady of which the typical total HOUSEHOLD income is just under $40,000 per year, have to make those decisions, and trying to decide whether to pay a $6,000 tax bill or pay $6,000 for a new furnace is reality (DV lives in a fantasy land and has no comprehension of real world adult decisions)

Was just curious and started looking up TAX FACTS in light of your numbers on just ONE property.   That means this year--based on the combined taxes of the city + county + school district--on just this ONE property alone, the financially struggling homeowners have to pay $260,000.

Of course, DV thinks $260,000 is just a mere drop in the bucket, but that's because he is not a taxpayer and does not have a financial care in the world.

Using the combined tax rate for this year alone and without taking into account ANY tax increase during 20 years (it is official that he has a 100% tax exemption from 2007 through 2026), Galesi gets off without paying about $6,500,000 in taxes.

And of course it is FACT that some of his 100% properties have tax exemptions with NO END DATE.

Is there any wonder why, under the dem leadership (that DV says is oh so wonderful) that the homeowners are putting their houses up for sale in record high numbers and fleeing the city before their houses are even put on the market (PROVEN by the FACT that their houses are empty on the date the are listed), and why so very very many other houses have been abandoned or foreclosed upon and the city is quickly becoming a ghost town (photos have been submitted in evidence not one teeny weeny shred of evidence has been presented to dispute that FACT)
