It looks like it was painted with water colors, like the kind when we were kids where you mix water in the little tray with different pigments. I do like the cast iron work they put on the windows.

So you've seen it too, glad I'm not the only one to notice it Someone at the last council meeting also brought up the paint job, think it was Tony B, said it's an eyesore.
It absolutely does not fit in with the rest of Downtown...Mexican restaurant or not. Not worth the $200K taxpayer money for a bunch of menial jobs without benefits.

I would like to say that it is attractive looking. It's supposed to be Mexican right? So I hope they will do well.
Guess when you get $200K taxpayer money and a millions in tax breaks, you can do whatever the hell you want.
Yes - If you are willing to put up a few million dollars of your own money, too.

Yes, because if you have a few million of your own money, a private bank or investors will never loan or invest $200k.
Exactly....
Albany Business Review 8/16/13 "Selden and Young paid $475,000 for the Schenectady property, and plan to invest another $3 million or more on renovations, furniture and equipment."
They paid $475K for a 1.6 million dollar property that Metroplex left vacant for YEARS! And 'expected' investment of $3 million?? They used the $200k from the Plex, received an unknown amount façade grant and have breaks from the Empire State Zone program.

I have seen and paid tax bills all of my life. Schenectady taxes were high 10 years. The Downtown was a ghost town. Mohawk Mall was empty. GE was on the verge of pulling out completely.
You are f**king kidding yourself if you think it was better 10 years ago.
So I will continue to tell the TRUTH and to state the FACTS and to celebrate every positive new development in the City-County of Schenectady that moves us further and further in the RIGHT DIRECTION down the road to economic revitalization. I will continue to SPEAK POSITIVELY ABOUT, PROMOTE and BUILD UP my community.
Finally -- to get back to the topic -- I look forward to the opening of Mexican Radio. I fully intend to raise up a glass to toast Chairman Jasenski, Mayor McCarthy, Ray Gillen and all of the folks (way to many to name) who made that new business coming to Schenectady possible.
It has been a month and DV still has NOT provided one teeny weeeny shred of EVIDENCE to support his statement that taxes are lower now than 10 years ago.'
What's the matter, dV????? Where is your evidence Why do you REFUSE to answer? Huh? Because you are just a fairytelling fairy tales, huh?
Guess when you are up in the wee hours of the night you are desparately searching the web for proof of what you say? Huh? Why don't you just ask your two nannies for their bill, and then scan it and you can show us. Oh, wait, that won't work because their bills will prove that you are lying.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

They did a lot more than just simple facade work. The west wall (closest to the rail tracks) was almost completely rebuilt. The FACT is that the amount of their OWN money that was invested in saving this building, which was literally on the verge of collapse, was many times MORE than any Metroplex dollars that they received in assistance.
The owners of Mexican Radio did a GREAT JOB. Metroplex did a GREAT JOB. And the City-County of Schenectady will be better for this tremendous effort.
Now, let's turn up the radio, drown out the sour grapes whining and celebrate the ongoing RENAISSANCE of the community that we (well- most of us except the nayboobs) love.

Falling home prices = great job????? Is that right dV??????
Is the MASSIVELY FALING tax bas a great job??????
Increasing taxes on homeowners to the point where they can no longer afford it causing them to lose their homes causing more foreclosed homes causing more vacant houses causing more blight -- that's a great job?
DV, why is it you don't have the GUTS to address the FACTS about the falling tax base, falling home values and home sale prics, falling home sales, increase in taxes, incease in blight, etc?
Why are you such a CHICKEN to address these FACTS for which we intelligent people on these boards have actually provided the EVIDENCE, such as posting the tax rolls showing the falling tax based, posting the home sale reports showing the falling sales and prices, posting the links to where the state posts the official numbers of the increasing equalization rate which PROVES the falling home values.
Where is YOUR EVIDENCE???????
Of course, we all know you will NOT respond to this, you will NEVER NEVER post one teeny weeny shred of evidence.
