The nayboobs would rather go back to the Farley-Jurzynski era when Downtown Schenectady had deserted store fronts.  The nayboobs are ignorant jack-asses.

Back when our taxes were half of what they are today?

Yep, that would be horrible.

Here is an idea.

Let downtown pay for downtown.

Spending money from the entire county is why there is so much outrage.

Taxes were high 10 years ago and the the whole county was in horrible shape.  Mohawk Mall was empty, Downtown was empty, etc.  I could go on and on with the list of problems back then.  Since then - Mohawk Commons was built, Downtown has seen a number of projects.  Other good economic development news is coming almost every week.  Things are heading in a positive direction.
Just face up to the fact that you nayboobs will NEVER say a good thing about current leadership in the City-County of Schenectady and that you live in a delusional world where you think that you can do everyone else's job better than they do it.
You folks get your jollies whining, carping and complaining.  That pretty much what it boils down to.

I have seen and paid tax bills all of my life.  Schenectady taxes were high 10 years.  The Downtown was a ghost town.  Mohawk Mall was empty.  GE was on the verge of pulling out completely.

You are f**king kidding yourself if you think it was better 10 years ago.

So I will continue to tell the TRUTH and to state the FACTS and to celebrate every positive new development in the City-County of Schenectady that moves us further and further in the RIGHT DIRECTION down the road to economic revitalization.  I will continue to SPEAK POSITIVELY ABOUT, PROMOTE and BUILD UP  my community.

Finally -- to get back to the topic -- I look forward to the opening of Mexican Radio.  I fully intend to raise up a glass to toast Chairman Jasenski, Mayor McCarthy, Ray Gillen and all of the folks (way to many to name)  who made that new business coming to Schenectady possible.

Taxes have doubled in the past 10 years.

Nayboobs have nothing nice to say because every dollar used to bring in your so-called improvements were taken from our taxpaying pockets.

Taking from the poor and middle class to finance the wealthy is not revitalization, it's redistribution of wealth from the bottom and middle to the top.

You have nerve coming on here blaming the taxpayers for not being happy about being robbed to finance the wealthy.

While the city falls to pieces and the decay spreads every day into Rotterdam.

You are a government shill that obviously has no tax burden to worry about.

Or even a paying job.

You measure a city and county by fancy businesses.

We measure them by taxes and debt.

Like most adults.

You approve of robbing taxpayers to support corporate welfare.

Both the city and county are in the worst financial situation ever.

Moody's agrees with us.

You agree with the thieves.

Really?   ROFL  Your name is not on ANY deed ANYWHERE in Schenectady Co, it's public information.  Furthermore your parents NEVER owned property either.

More fairty tales.

So WHY are you avoiding providing proof of your claim that taxes where higher 10 years ago???????    Why no proof, DV?????

And when you are challenged to provide proof of what you say, you not only don't provide EVIDENCE, but you result to using the "F" word.  Do you use the "F" word with your boss, the priest?

That's right, spew your nonsense babble.     You won't provide proof of your statement that taxes were higher 10 years ago because you know that you are lying.

You don't even know what a tax bill looks like and you can't provide proof that taxes were higher 10 years ago because there is no proof, because taxes were LOWER 10 yrs ago!!!!!!!

So, Mexican Radio received $200,000 from Metroplex just to open their doors.

Then they are TAX EXEMPT through the PILOT agreement and will NOT have to pay taxes for three years.

Upon the fourth year in business, Mexican Radio will only pay 50% of the tax bill.

Savings....over $300,000 to the restaurant per year.

Cost to the taxpayers..... another million dollar gaping hole in the taxbase for years to come.

Maybe 50 part time jobs for millions gone.

Apparently, Gillen was drinking a few margaritas when putting this deal together.

Maybe a casino would fit right in....

A $25 million dollar taxpayer-paid 155 low-income apartments next to the DSS from Galesi.

A bar on every corner downtown.

All these bars/restaurants bring part-time/no benefit/ less-than-minimum wage jobs to the City.

And none of them pay taxes .... the sales tax on a burrito is pennies.... and the taxpayers keep supporting for-profit businesses.

Working together SUCKS!!!!

Let me just make this crystal clear.... because Mexican Radio is tax-exempt and does not have to pay even a PILOT....

For 2014, 2015 and 2016..... the City will lose over $900,000 in taxes...plus the $200,000 Metroplex 'loaned them".
