What good news?   The next round of city tax foreclosures?

The additional drop of the city's tax base after the people sue the city in small claims over the assessments (after the mayor's political cronies on the board of assessment deny reductions)?

More houses put up for sale as people flee the city?

Another drop in home sales and home sale prices?

Trespassing charges by the "dog census enumerators" trying to peer into peoples private homes while in search of dog dishes on the floor?

More mis-use of the homeowners' tax dollars?

So, if it's so good in the city, why do you REFUSE to enter the city and live in it??????     Oh yeah, unable to support yourself, huh?   Or too afraid of getting shot, assaulted, beat-up?

Yep, higher taxes, tax base falling more, more tax foreclosures, more politically connected tax deadbeats who the city does not foreclose, more falling home sales, more falling home sale prices, refusal to reassess the whole city, more reduction in ESSENTIAL city services, and more tax hikes.

There was a lot of buzz for a long time about Mexican Radio coming to Schenectady.

A brief item in the Times Union in 2010 said the restaurant was expected to open by early 2011.

In September 2011, we wrote that Lori Selden and Mark Young, who run Mexican Radio, were still looking for a space downtown. Their locales in Hudson and New York City were a hit.

Then in July 2012 came word that negotiations for Selden and Young to lease the old Off Track Betting complex on State Street fell through, but that they were still trying to work something out. "Mexican Radio back on the dial?" the headline read.

Finally, a deal was struck in October 2012.

It then took another year and a half, $4 million and barrels of yellow and green paint to transform three connected brick buildings at 325 State St. from an OTB into Mexican Radio's colossal restaurant.

Finally, after four years of waiting, Mexican Radio opened with much fanfare in mid-June.

So it was a bit surprising to find it not packed on a Friday night less than two months later.

With at least a dozen tables open, we still had to wait at the bar for 15 minutes to be seated. My friend was perplexed. I explained that there likely weren't enough servers or tables were being held for reservations, which, unbeknownst to me until I got there, Mexican Radio had just started taking.

Young later explained they also sometimes limit seating to keep the kitchen from being overwhelmed, though he said they haven't done that much recently.

If you invest $4 million in a restaurant, you should have enough staff on hand to take whatever a Friday night dinner rush brings. It's unclear precisely why we had to wait.

...

City homeowners FORCED, under threat of the city seizing their homes,  to pay for the property and school taxes of this place.   The taxpayers of the city have a birthright entitlement to an accurate and full accounting of every penny of this taxpayer funded gin mill

And apparently virtually all the facebook messages say thumbs down, over-priced, long waits despite empty tables.

Reviews are horrible online, long waiting times, $17 burritos which many are saying Taco Bell's are better, crappy staff which don't even refill drinks. No thanks

Been once - no desire to return.  Bad service, over priced, and margarita taste like lime juice and ice.

I was a big supporter of this place coming in as you can see by previous posts in this thread. With that said, after going twice I will never go back. Terrible service, terrible food and the prices are beyond outrageous. $16 for guacamole!!!!!!!!

Got that right.

As the homeowners in the city are paying the taxes on this building, the homeowners have a right to get the chips for free.    Anyone want to disagree with that and explain why they disagree?

I have been reading more reviews online, what a nightmare the majority of the customers are having at this place. Even a mother of one of the staff gave the place a 1 star review, that there says a lot

Lunch special:

2 tacos for $12.

A person who works there as a cook told me they were buried with business when they first opened but people left mad because of the long wait times and the mistakes made by the inexperienced new staff.

He's worried about losing his job soon because the place is always empty.
