From the Sunday Times-Union:

1. After spending four years and approximately $4 million [OF THEIR OWN MONEY], the locally owned Mexican Radio restaurant group is preparing to open its third location, at Broadway and State Street in Schenectady. Lori Selden, who owns Mexican Radio with her husband, Mark Young, is the company's CEO, CFO and made all the design decisions for the 25,000-square-foot space that previously was home to OTB. The first-floor bar and dining area is open to a second-floor space with another bar and more tables.

2. Comprised of three connected brick buildings, Mexican Radio's third full bar and upstairs private-events room are located in the rear-most building. The restaurant, set to open in June, has approximately 80 employees and the capacity to hold more than 500 people. It is three times larger than Mexican Radio's Hudson location, open since 2003, and eight times bigger than the company's Manhattan restaurant.

3. A second-floor area for private events is open to the room above, which cannot be used by the public because it is not handicapped accessible. Ironwork throughout the restaurant, including the third-floor railing, was made by local craftsmen, as were bar tops, tables and more.

4. The Broadway side of the building, with State Street to the left, shows the varying heights of the different floors of the connected building. Selden said the facade's dominant color was inspired by verdigris, the pale-green hue of weathered copper, as on the State of Liberty. On the opposite side of the building is a 3,000-square-foot patio.

The Grand Opening is right around the corner.  CYA there.

Yes many will be there with their camera to see how unhealthy you really eat.

And yes, cheer for another tax increase on the homeowners, and cheer for the money STOELN from homeowners who have been unable to make necessary repairs to their own homes in order pay for some of the cost of this building.   The owners of this restaurant should NEVER have been given one penny of taxpayer money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But of course, an adult-aged man who is unable to be financially self sufficient, has not yet left the nest, does not live independently as a normal adult man, and who does not pay bills and taxes, naturally he would not understand.

And how many more people are going to flee the city from the crushing tax burden of paying taxes of this restaurant

Take a cab, they don't even have a parking lot.

You have to park in the city(Metroplex owned) lots, and walk a block.

So, Mexican Radio received $200,000 from Metroplex just to open their doors.

Then they are TAX EXEMPT through the PILOT agreement and will NOT have to pay taxes for three years.

Upon the fourth year in business, Mexican Radio will only pay 50% of the tax bill.

Savings....over $300,000 to the restaurant per year.

Cost to the taxpayers..... another million dollar gaping hole in the taxbase for years to come.

Maybe 50 part time jobs for millions gone.

Apparently, Gillen was drinking a few margaritas when putting this deal together.

**They put 4 million in to reap 10 million out in tax breaks and Plex and façade grants.

Cost to the taxpayers?? For decades.

Yep. Brilliant.

Would have loved to see an IKEA go there. Retail. More full-time, not less than 50 part-time server jobs.

Yeah, let's see DV reason is way out of that story

And DV, while putting up $4 ml of their own results in a return to the owners of $10 mil in tax breaks, would the BIG DV care to state what the homeowners in the city are getting in return for putting up so much of their money?

Of course, DV will NOT address those details.  He carefully avoids ANY comment on any return to the homeowners -- as there is none, he avoids comment on the political cronies reaping big returns such as the tax breaks on the backs of the homeowners.

Now watch him post that the county will drive sales tax    ROFL.   A $10 meal results in a paltry 80 cents.   Oh, and of course 80 employees. and he'll cheer and say will get paid and spend money in the city or county and they will pay taxes.  But we will set him straight now because they are all LOW PAID jobs, dishwashers, floor sweepers, line cooks, burger flippers or whatever.   People who will NOT pay income taxes  They very well may have taxes withheld fro their checks but then they will get everything back plus some because of EITC   And most likely they will be people getting food stamps, Medicaid, etc.

Yeah, DV, tell us what kind of medical plan Mexican radio has????     Oh yeah, nothing.  Employees will be on Medicaid or perhaps the obamacare which based on their low incomes will be eligible for taxpayers to subsidize their health plan

Don't need to take a cab - like most people, I can easily walk a block or even 20 blocks.  The short walk gives us the opportunity to see and enjoy  the wonderful improvements in Downtown.

Once again, you continue to spew your outrageous lies.
They will be paying taxes -- per the PILOT, plus sales tax on food and beverages sold, plus income taxes paid by the owner and employees,  They also benefited the community by saving an historic, old building that was on the verge of collapse.
If you want to see an IKEA or some other business Downtown, why don't you stop your bellyaching and put YOUR money where your mouth is and invest in Downtown.  It sure is easier for you to complain rather than to actually DO something positive.

DV, Once again, you do not comprehend what you "read"

Uh, DV, the employer does NOT pay "income taxes!"   Where is your brain?

The employEES there will have income taxes withheld from their paychecks,  But at income tax filing time they will get ALL tax withheld refunded to them PLUS they will get additional money.  DV, get yourself educated, About 98% of the jobs there are under $10 an hour which certainly is enough to make the employees eligible for EITC which means they get all tax refunded plus some!!!!!!!!!!

Now sales tax, come on DV, that is next to nothing.  All the restaurants and gin mills downtown and little shops and the past couple years Schenectady co has seen a drop, that is a REDUCTION in sale tax revenue.

The pilots paid are no where near what they get in tax dollars to fix up0, e.g., grants (uh, you obviously do NOT know what a grant is---it does NOT need to be repaid), then low or now interest loans, then of course lot of this is tax write-offs for them (just another tidbit that PROVES you know NOTHING at all about business and taxes)

Bottom line, is the net effect is a WINDFALL for the owners of the restaurant, AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You really need to go to school and take classes in business admin, accounting, and taxes.

The Grand Opening is right around the corner.  This will be one hell of a party when it opens.
A time to celebrate the tremendous Renaissance in the City-County of Schenectady.

A time to celebrate the tremendous Renaissance in the City-County of Schenectady.

You keep saying there is this renaissance.

Where is it?   Is the renaissance the blight that is spreading throughout the city like wildfire?
Is the renaissance the massively falling tax base?
Is the renaissance the huge drop in home value, home sales, and home sale prices?
Is the renaissance the city that people are fleeing the city in droves, that are fleeing the city in such high numbers that so many of the houses for sale are empty?
Is the renaissance in the city the houses that sit for two, three, four years and NO ONE willing to buy?

Why do you refuse to elaborate on the so called renaissance and not speak about the falling tax base, falling property values, reduced servic3es combined with increase taxes, etc.  Why do you avoid addressing those FACTS?    Why is that DV?????

Fortunately EVERYONE knows you are bloated full of bullsh*t as proven by your inability to provide even one teeny weeny shred of proof of the renaissance.   You provide NO EVIDEENCE whatsoever about an increasing tax base, increasing home values, reduced taxes, increased services, etc.

And fortunately, I am one who provides evidence and proof of virtually EVERYTHING that I post!   but you aren't up to the challenge, you are a coward

The photos in the Sunday Times Union show how great the new restaurant looks and the great amount of work that the owners put into saving and fixing up these old buildings.
This project will spur other projects -- and the RENAISSANCE of the City-County of Schenectady will continue its positive forward pace.

And all the tax money forcibly stolen from homeowners.   All the property taxes the homeowners have to pay for it.

Ah, I think I have figured it out.   I ask the question, "what is the return on the investment TO THE HOMEOWNERS and their neighborhoods?"

DV's SILENCE is the answer.      Since the people get nothing in return for their so called "investment", this means hat through DV's silence he is stating that the homeowners and their neighborhoods are getting NOTHING in return on their investment.

Well, DV, you do have a weird way of telling us that homeowners and their neighborhoods are getting NOTHING in return for the money spent on downtown, but at least it is understood now that you are saying that there is NOTHING IN RETURN for downtown
