I'm sure Gillen will get a paint crew out ASAP to cover any graffiti...can't miss a photo op.

Good to know that the taxpayers money paid for that paint job...and most likely for all the subsequent ones to cover the endless amounts of graffiti ....

I don't think anyone is actually against this new eatery/bar.

It's more about taxpayer's money being used to create it....AND.....the residents shouldering the cost via tax dollars....AND.....the pathetic condition in the rest of the city!!

The new Mexican Radio restaurant is yet another diamond in the crown of the City-County of Schenectady's Renaissance.  The building looks great -- really brightens up Downtown.
Be prepared for a lot more positive economic development projects to be announced in the City-County of Schenectady in the weeks and months ahead.

Explain why you CHEER for a handful of minimum wage jobs, people who will have to be subsidized by the taxpayers in the city, in a building for which the financially struggling taxpaying homeowner will have to pay the taxes for.

Just another building that contributes to the reduction of the city's tax base.

Just another place for you to stuff your face.

DV, how about telling us what the taxpaying homeowners will be getting for het another downtown gin mill?

Tell us DV, tell us what your buddy dems have done to the city' tax base in the past 10 years.   Cam you tell us?????   Of course, too embarrassed to answer that because you know the dems are running the city and you are in a desperate attempt to brown nose them in hopes of getting a high paid do nothing job.

Be prepared to see your tax bills keep skyrocketing so that we taxpayers can continue to fund a downtown full of gin mills and Galesi tenants.

Metroplex is a sham...the upkeep, the lighting, the facades and the endless tax-exemptions are all going to support for-profit bars which bring less and less in sales taxes every year.

Rudnicks, Olenders, Bancock Bistro, Mr. James and the latest casualty (Scautaub) are all driven out of the city for their YEARS, DECADES of paying taxes and doing business.

Pathetic...criminal...and disgusting.

Yes true.

How about it DV,  How about commenting on the long time taxpaying businesses downtown that closed???????    How about speaking about the endless reduction in sales tax revenue under your dem buddies????????

TOTAL SILENCE from DV on the FACTS.      Just keeps spewing LIES LIES LIES,  he NEVER NEVER NEVER provides on teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCRE of the things he says.

How many years has he been claiming his dems have lowered taxes in the county, repeats this fairy tale over and over and over, but NEVER provides any documentation, no EVIDENCE, no actual numbers from official sources to prove what he says.

Rudnicks and Olenders closed because of THEIR own failed business models.
Bangkok Bistro relocated  and Mr. James closed due to deaths in the family and family issues.
Scautub just moved over the bridge -- and well -- I will keep my personal opinions about them to my self.

Businesses come and go -- look at all the businesses that were here - say - 120 years ago and how many of them closed or moved -- even during Schenectady's boom years (1920's to 1950's).

Metroplex is doing a great job now -- a hell of lot better than the Farley-Jurzynski years when Downtown had almost become a ghost town and GE was ready to pull out of town for good.

The above-mentioned businesses were in the City for DECADES!! They paid taxes and contributed to the sales tax base more than any of the tax-exempt, government funded businesses in downtown EVER will!!

With millions in metroplex funds, any business can flourish...oh wait...not the Parker Inn, or Cornells. And Cardio Mag took Metroplex money and relocated to Albany as did the owner of the Vandyke (wait, didn't he leave Metroplex high and dry by $350K?).

And didn't the sales tax revenues for Schenectady County drop 4% in 2013........

While we anxiously await the opening of Mexican Radio, I would be remiss in not plugging that other great restaurant which is delighting the taste-buds of patrons from near and far -- Dolce Vita.  This is an awesome restaurant and judging by the packed house - it is doing quite well.

Try supporting a local family business which hasn't received a Metroplex handout and is paying their fair share of taxes in the City.

Pettas comes to mind...they haven't received the handouts Aperitivo, Johnnys or Bombers have received. Hard to compete with other businesses when they aren't paying taxes or upkeep.

Metroplex has created an unfair system in the City. Those family-run taxpaying-businesses cannot compete with a Metroplex funded, tax-exempt restaurants.

Metroplex kills capitalism when taxpayers money benefits only those connected.....

Don't know if the current exterior paint job on MEX.RADIO is the final one, but everytime we go by (3/27) it looks like it needs to be painted.   Anyone know?

Sorry DV, you are WONG.   James hairstylist closed because your dems brought in a billionaire competition (at taxpayer expense) Paul Mitchell and made Mr James pay Paul Mitchell's taxes.  James closed BEFORE he died !!!!!!!!!

Rudnicks did NOT have bad business sense, but because your dems taxed them right out of business. How can ANY business downtown exists these days without taxpayer handouts  from your desm.
