SCHENECTADY N.Y. – A fire broke out at approximately 6 a.m. Thursday at 1336 Eighth Ave. in Schenectady.

A woman and 12-year old were able to escape the home before fire crews arrived on scene.

Firefighter's hoses were sticking to the ground, and ladders became slippery due to weather conditions, making it hard for crews to put out the heavy smoke and fire.

It took firefighters 30 minutes to put out the fire. This is the second fire crews have fought within 12 hours.
