Parole officer allegedly kept confiscated drugs
Saturday, February 8, 2014
By Steven Cook (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

CAPITAL REGION — A parole officer is to be arraigned Monday on charges she confiscated drugs from her parolees for personal use.

Stacey L. Sullivan, 43, is accused of taking steroids IV needles and Suboxone, a type of controlled pain reliever, from a Rotterdam parolee last summer, according to court papers. She allegedly never documented the seizure and kept some of the drugs for herself.

Sullivan was arrested last month. She lives in Greenwich, Washington County, but a large number of the parolees she supervised were in Schenectady County, prosecutor John Healy said.

Sullivan was suspended as a result of the investigation by state police in Greenwich and its Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Police indicated Sullivan was suspected of confiscating contraband from multiple parolees and admitted to using the contraband over several years.

She was charged with a felony count of first-degree falsifying business records and a misdemeanor count of official misconduct. The investigation is continuing, however, and more charges could be filed, Healy said.

Sullivan is represented by attorney Steve Kouray. Kouray declined to comment on the specific accusations, but said he believed the case “is an over-charge in some respects.”

Sullivan was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Drug tests are usually a 1 time deal before employment unless there is a reason to believe someone is using, sometimes there is a random tests but most of the time the words gets out way before hand, almost like a wink wink so the employees can flush their system. It shouldn't surprise people how many or who uses drugs, cops, doctors, nurses, dentists, mechanics, city workers all do it, that is the truth of the matter like it or not.

It isn't a drug issue, it's a theft issue.  The government steals from the citizen, the government agent steals from the government.

oh Cicero...you sound so crass and not informed.....only about government and not about the drug problem.....it's not from the government...

it's a disease and the sooner people accept that ...the better society will be to understand and not point fingers....

its the addiction that causes the theft.....nothing else matters than how to get the next fix.....

humans have ALWAYS found the 'medicine' they think they need....going to an MD is the same only it's 'regulated' for
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm not promoting drugs but addictions cover EVERYONE whether it be eating/drinking/hoarding/smoking/coffee/soda
sugar/exercise etc etc etc.....

are some more destructive than others...sure....but when humans are so regulated like cattle it seems like no 'out'
except for what the anthill decides is OK.

drug testing will add to the chains of 'civilized' living.....

no drug testing for jobs/food stamps or otherwise..... you see it ends up on the backs of everyone except for those
with enough $$ to 'hide' their addictions......

don't label us

So...Everybody that steals is a drug addict?  That's like saying becoming a parole officer causes drug addiction or visa versa.  That doesn't sound right...

Just pointing out your logical fallacy.  I didn't think you would get it.

Some addicts steal, some do not, it's not an absolute.  You could drug test every citizen every day, and there will still be theft.

the other drug addicts don't overtly steal.....they are rich and steal in different ways....they are oxy/lortab/adderall/coke
addicted rich folks....just because we notice the 'regular' addicts that live in our tax bracket doesn't make them a horrible
human...just like the actor....he was living in a 'clean' tax bracket protected life.....we didn't hear about him stealing for
his fix......

we are equating criminal with addicts of a certain tax bracket....that's not equal....de-criminalize drugs.....the
system doesn't give equal justice.......

If you work for the Albany DA and commit a drug crime, they will find you another $100, 000 job in government. If you are wealthy, famous, and/or work in government at a high enough level, if you get caught with illegal drugs, you are a tragic victim. Everyone else, you are a scuzzy criminal.

And like those welfare abusers who know to make the move to the City to get better DSS benefits than anywhere in the state...

this parole office knew where to work in order to get her fix.

The City of Schenectady paves the way for criminal behavior from all walks of life...
