Marv Cermak: Schenectady cabbie shot for doing the right thing

What was initially reported as a routine shooting – if there is such a thing – earlier this month on Hamilton Hill took place under unusual circumstances.

Just before midnight on Jan. 4, a taxi driver came upon two men urinating on Emmett Street. In an act of good citizenry, the cabbie chastised the distasteful and unlawful performance in public.

One of the men responded by firing three shots at the cabdriver. One of the shots shattered the windshield and hit the 55-year-old cabbie in the chest. Fortunately, the wound turned out not life-threatening.

If there is a moral to the story, perhaps it's that sometimes it doesn't pay to do the right thing.

more and more.....have to keep blinders on......the morals in this country is amiss...

and been told many times.....don't flash car lights if you see someone driving without them on......

now that proves it is not safe even to do the right thing......

Hope the Cabbie has recovered...

And the person with the biggest set of blinders on? Mayor McCarthy.

His red-herring technique is getting so old, his speeches are borderline hysterical.

What happened to his City-wide pit bull control? Never done. What about the violence at MP middle school which 100 students & adults took over a street in a fit of violence? Never addressed. How about the man and his daughters who were beaten by a gang of teens at the Bow Tie? Never spoken of,

This taxi driver has more of a moral compass in his pinky than McCarthy has in his entire body.

They wrote off whole areas of the city, civilization has entirely broken down. They took money that should've gone to the Hill, and used it to gussy up Erie Boulevard in a silly manner. Albany Street goes begging for help, but I'm afraid it is too late. I'm disgusted with these people, utterly disgusted.
