Wow where did that come from ???   I HATE to see what is happening to homeowners in our city. The house on one side of me has been vacant for
awhile (city owned of course) and now I'm afraid that two others on the other side of me will be city owned soon and left vacant : (

And Im very well aware that I could be on next years list.

There's a nice house for sale in my neighborhood, maintained in tip-top condition, but next door to a house that the owner walked away from. I'm not sure if the city foreclosed on that by now, somebody covered the deteriorated roof with plastic, but the plastic came off again. Nobody even looks at the house for sale any more, I think they drive by, see the vacant place next door, and never call the realtor. It's too bad, it could have been a really cute and affordable starter home for someone, the vacant house I mean, but empty houses generate more empty houses, and depress the value of the whole street, eventually.
Once in a while someone attempts to break in to the abandoned house.

The city isn't the only place for foreclosures. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE IN THE COUNTY! The reason for these foreclosures range from....loss in property value(can't sell them), taxes unsustainable, bad/risky bank loans, loss of jobs and of course your plain ole folks who just don't give a sh!t.

We have been watching the housing market closely in the county, and most homes that were on the market a year ago are STILL for sale. Most prices have dropped by at least $20K+. And this isn't just in the city.
