The U.S. Senate this morning advanced a measure that would extend a federal unemployment benefits program for three months, but it still faces an uncertain future in the Republican-led House.
The Senate voted 60-37 in an important procedural vote to advance the legislation to extend what’s known as the Emergency Unemployment Compensation or EUC program, which provides extra weeks of benefits after regular state-based unemployment compensation ends.

I say pass it. 3+ years on unemployment is a real eye catcher on a resume. If you want to make a permanent underclass, this is a great bill.
Ya gotta love the Rabid Right... Right Wingers kill the economy... Then they blame the unemployed for the jobs that they don't have!
How did all this unemployment mess begin anyway???

Not blaming, just a reality when employers recruit. A person that won't take a lower paying job because their unemployment benefits pay more will lose out to the person willing to take any job. If somebody has been on unemployment for 3 years, I wish them luck. Their next stop is the welfare office.

649,000: The number of Americans who have been unemployed for at least three years.
Quoted Text
The 649,000 figure almost certainly fails to capture the full scope of the problem. Official unemployment statistics leave out millions of displaced workers who have given up looking for jobs because they didn’t think they could find them. Some are simply waiting for the labor market to turn around and resume their search; others have gone on disability insurance or retired early, leaving the workforce behind for good. The Labor Department doesn’t collect data on how long such people have been out of work, but it’s a safe bet that many are effectively long-term unemployed.

Unemployment certainly increased much more under Obama than Bush, good point Box.
The long list of Republican Jobs Bills Passed since Obama Took Office in 2009, unemployment at 8%and rising: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. etc etc etc

I meet a lot of people as president of the United States, and as a candidate for president of the United States, and as a U.S. Senator, and as a state senator, and I can’t name a time when I’ve met an American who would rather have an unemployment check than the pride of having a job. The long term unemployed are not lazy. They are not lacking in motivation. They are coping with the aftermath of the worst economic crisis in generations.” Obama on Unemployment
"The Bush Economic Meltdown" caused the worst unemployment since Reagan, then the Right Wingers blame the jobless for not having a job!

unemployment exists why? because we are land poor and HAVE to work under someone/thing.........
everyone should quit and wait for their benefits, in the mean time barter/trade without fiat.......
unemployment is another term for cast system control....remember minimum wage(over qualified if college educated) is STILL MINIMUM.....so try to opt for unemployment.....
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
It took Reagan about 4 years to put people back to work and at the rate Obama is going it looks like unemployment may last forever. It's time for Obama to put on his big boy pants and accept some of the blame for this poor economy instead of trying to blame everyone else for his mistakes.

Yes Reagan AND THE DEMOCRATS put America back to work.
The present do nothing congress has been "talking about" a jobs bill since 2009... but have passed none.

GOOD FOR THEM!! Their plan is finally showing success!!
this has been the plan for decades. outsourcing jobs to 3rd world countries was the beginning. lack of jobs = more government programs...aka opportunities! it's a globalist movement that has been in the making for eons by both the dems and reps...aka the 'collective government'.
I think it's great!! I love seeing the government succeed at something!
