SCHENECTADY — A Schenectady city plow overturned overnight after the driver lost control on an ice-covered Hillside Avenue.

The plow took down a utility pole and rolled onto its side near Avenue B Extension. The driver, who has not yet been identified, was not injured and power was knocked out in the neighborhood as a result of the accident.

Well of course this would happen.

The city REFUSES to declare a snow emergency, REFUSES to PROPERLY plow the streets outside of their precious downtown.

Based on what the weather guy said this morning, all the snow left on streets will turn to ice later today.  And other cities have pushed snow back to the curb, but not Schenectady, they won't provide such an essential service to the taxpayers in the neighborhoods, they ONLY care about their precious rich cronies downtown.

Come on people in the city, post photos of the snow on your streets.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The city refuses to provide the most basic winter safety service in an adequate manner. The mayor gets an F for effort. Lack of leadership is the reason this foreseeable "accident" happened. What else has to happen?
How is it we are able to afford to ticket cars downtown, but not those left blocking the plows anywhere else? Does that make sense? Why are we still going by BS's made up number of what it would cost to declare a snow emergency? And why are they getting away with the fiction that this is an either/or situation, either we declare a snow emergency that costs a bazillion dollars, or we don't even bother to enforce existing parking regulations? How about taking the nearly $200,000 allocated for Proctor's in the budget, telling them to absorb the hit, as they seem to feel they are "making money" enough to not worry about budgeting like the rest of us, and turning that money over for the higher cause of someone not getting his neck broken, potentially, trying to do his job?
Taxes went up.

Our Rotterdam street was all ice until the warm weather and rain melted it.
