If it weren't for snowguns, Whiteface would be in trouble if they relied on natural snow.
Speaking of Climate Change: Monthly Records at Lake Placid NY Month Record Snowfall Year September 1.0 in 1947 October 21.0 in 1942 November 40.4 in 1943 December 128.9 in 1942 January 62.5 in 1925 February 67.9 in 1943 March 65.7 in 1940 April 88.1 in 1943 May 47.2 in 1943 All the record snowfalls in Lake Placid are from the 1920's and 1940's. Not one Monthly record from the 50s, 60's 70's 80's 90's or beyond.
Prior to the industrial revolution, it snowed exactly the right amount of snow and the temperature was exactly the right temperature . |

Killington VT opening/closing day.
In the 15 years between 1986 and 2001, Killington opened in October in every year but one, and never closed earlier than May 21.
In the five years ending in 2011, opening day has always been in November, and closing day has never made it past May 6. |

Snowguns?
Don't they contribute to 'climate change' because of the massive amount of electricity that these systems use? |

And... ???
and....just another example of Boxy's climate change hypocrisy... He looks the the other way when it involves something he enjoys doing...whether it be snow guns for his skiing, or belching hydrocarbons in the air with his jetski and snowmobile... |

Just about everything we do impacts the cliimate. The solution to the climate change disaster isn't putting the world back into the stone age... It is finding reasonable affordable plans to fix what we can. BTW have you ever seen Jimney Peak's windmill on top of their mountain??? |

It's also getting the entire world to to move as one...that will be a bigger obstacle than the actual energy solution(s).....until it makes economic and political sense, you will have cheaters, even though they will tell the world differently Haven't seen JP's windmill, but I traveled through southern Minnesota on i90 west and saw windmills for a few hundred miles...that's a place you wouldn't expect to see them. |

Machine-made snow dates back to the 1950's. Its purpose was to create snow or, to be more precise, more snow than a "normal, all-natural winter" would provide in places where folks wanted to make money building ski resorts. Snow-making equipment uses a lot of energy made mostly from carbon fuels and, therefore, is contributing to global warming and the eventual demise of humanity. It is only reasonable, logical, environmentally friendly and most important NATURAL to ban machine-made snow.
