Oops. Your plan to buy the Rotterdam Square Mall at auction has been foiled.
The mall has been withdrawn from an auction planned this week, said Thomas Dobrowski, who is handling the potential sale for Rockwood Real Estate Advisors.
Rotterdam Square Mall was slated to be offered for sale starting Wednesday at http://www.auction.com The opening bid was to be $2 million.
The mall has 583,937 square feet of leasable space that is 86.9 percent occupied, according to a listing on real estate website Loop.net. Sears and Kmart anchor the single-level mall. Other major tenants include TJ Maxx, Shoe Department Encore and Rotterdam Square Cinema.
All except have TJ Maxx and Sears are said to have substantial times left on their leases, according to the listing. TJ Maxx's lease expires in November 2014 while Sears has almost five years left on its lease, which expires in August 2018.
The listing didn't include Macy's, which also operates a department store at the mall.
Other retailers include American Eagle, Victorias Secret, Aeropostale, Gap Outlet, Bath & Body Works, DEB, Olympia Sports, Rue21, Christopher and Banks, and Gamestop to name a few.
The mall is owned by The Macerich Co., a national firm that bought the mall along with 12 other shopping centers for $2.33 billion from the Wilmorite Corp. in 2005. The Wilton Mall, which is not for sale, also was purchased in the same transaction.

Since the taxes are a million a year, either Metroplex will get control of the property, or the town has promised to lower the assessment to prevent a sale and hopefully prevent Walmart from buying the property.

Either one would be a tax increase for us all.

The Mall was sold in 2005 and remained open under new management. I hope whoever buys the mall this time is more interested in promoting the businesses there than making a quick buck.

Thomas Dobrowski, managing director of Rockwood Real Estate Advisors, acknowledged the online auction that was pending for this week has been canceled. But he declined to discuss the reasons why it was removed or any other details about the mall’s future.
“Sorry, I am not able to comment further,” he said in an email Monday.
Perhaps they didn't think it was going to hit the media like it did. Perhaps there were 'plans' already in the making....perhaps?
I saw on line 'somewhere' that the land on RT7 by I88, behind the old florist across from the schalmont entrance was for sale. Sorry....I didn't get the link. I search around again and post it here.

Former Beech-Nut factory in NY sold to developer The Associated Press
CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. -- Beech-Nut is selling its former baby food production plant in the Mohawk Valley to a company specializing in the rehabilitation of old industrial buildings.
Local media outlets report that the Lenzburg, Switzerland-based Hero Group, Beech-Nut's parent company, closed last Friday on a deal selling the facility to TD Development LLC. The buyer says it plans to convert the 20-acre property in Canajoharie (kan-uh-joh-HAYR'-ee) into a multitenant shipping and light manufacturing complex.
The site was left empty more than two years ago when Beech-Nut shifted its production to a new facility in the nearby Mohawk River town of Florida, 35 miles northwest of Albany. The Canajoharie plant, located along the Thruway, had been in operation for nearly 120 years.
TD Development's plans include demolishing about 30 percent of the building and renovating the rest.
