Did you hear him on the weekend's news?  News report about budget talks.

So McCarthy says "if property owners paid their taxes." and continuing on how those who do pay taxes have to pay the taxes of those who don't.

WHAT HAVE I BEEN SAYING ALL THESE YEARS????????????

If McC and his buddy dems and the plex would make the super rich down property owners pay their taxes, then the rest of the financially struggling homeowner taxpayers would not have to make up that difference by payiing higher taxes.

Of course, none of the cheerleaders for the mayor and his team will EVER address the FACT that all these taxpayer paid give-a-ways for downtown and Proctors is NOT helping the city.

Blame the victims of your pigheadedness, Gary!
There were examples, in the paper, of people who lost their homes, but they were trying to pay their taxes, they couldn't afford to! Other parts of the country had foreclosures due to banks scamming people and people 'buying' houses they couldn't pay for, but not here. Oh, no. Schenectady government had to go and create a foreclosure crisis, all by themselves. It's like, if you missed a great flood, your government going and opening all the hydrants to flood you anyway.
I know people paying their taxes, who can't afford anything else! Not a movie at the Bowtie, not a burrito at Bombers, certainly not a Broadway show at Proctor's. If they aren't extremely careful, McCheese will take their house away, try to sell it to some other sucker and fail, and then blame them.

McStupid, the Metroplex Board and the Industrial Development Agency are the cause of homeowners failing to pay taxes.

Tax exemptions exceed tax payment failure tenfold.

They are directly proportional.

Each tax exemption causes more tax payment failure.

I'm not saying they aren't actually looking to improve the city.

They just don't realize and blindly deny themselves as the cause of tax payment failures.

The problem stems from allowing The Metroplex and The IDA to operate with no limits to tax exemptions.

A directly proportional percentage of the entire tax base should only be allowed tax exemptions.

Plus the recipients of these exemptions should not be limited to a single section of the city and
to the same corporations for fifty years.

The Metroplex, funneling all the taxpayer dollars to corporations and to themselves,
year after year for decades, chasing the dream of a perfect downtown, has bled the
rest of the city dry.

Their trickle down theory has failed time after time.

The corporations are not required to hire city residents.

The contractors hired to build the tax exempt corporate facilities are
not required to hire city residents.

The city jobs are given to non-residents.

There is no end in sight either.

They intend on never changing their plans to include anyone except
the corporations of downtown, the college and themselves as they
give themselves no interest loans, grants, and tax exempt status.

While taking 600 or more residential properties each year that they
can't even afford to demolish. They attempt to borrow millions to demolish
homes that they take as taxpayer after taxpayer is unable to afford
their downtown empire.

Tax exemptions should be distributed equally throughout the city,
so other neighborhood may benefit from their own contributions.

All these downtown tax exemptions benefit no city residential property
owners. They actually devalue the homes of the residents with the high
taxes.

$150 million for downtown, $0 for Bellevue, $0 for Mt Pleasant,
$0 for the North side, $0 for Hamilton Hill, $0 for Upper State St.

This has truly become a one sided corporate welfare city.

McCarthy is a corporate whore.

Residential properties can't even be rented out to cover the purchase cost and the taxes.

Where is the fairness of taking from the residents and giving it all to the non-resident corporate welfare queens?

I used to give these people the benefit of the doubt, that they somehow did not know that what they were doing does not work and is in fact detrimental, but I know longer believe that they aren't aware of this now, even if they somehow weren't before. The bizarre spectacle of the mayor trying to sell houses to the unsuspecting on weekends, that bus, and all the lying that went along with it... no one can be that stupid. I think that the downtown thing was well-intentioned by SOME that were in on it at the very beginning, but by the time people such as Susan Savage were taking credit for miracles, it was already completely corrupted, and anyone not acknowledging that publicly, knows it privately. The problem is, they thing they can prop it up long enough to get some of the desired results, enough to quiet their critics while they get theirs and get out. To admit the failure of all this 'economic development' is admitting publicly that we have an inordinate number of useless incompetents on the public payroll, at high, high salaries. It has already been pointed out by the state that we have too much of this. What hasn't been pointed out is that until we have zero 'economic developers', we will have too many.

"Those who do pay taxes have to pay the taxes of those who don't". He left out the part about we have to pay for a bunch of stuff to benefit a bunch of non-residents, and go without necessary services we pay for. Even Denise Brucker woke up to reality.

Fact is, even the Mayor has no clue how indebted the City is and will perpetually be to the Downtown for-profit leeches.

Taxpayers could pay their bills if we stopped paying for new facades, endless grants, garbage, lighting, plowing and upkeep Downtown. For-profit businesses need to make their OWN money, not rob from the taxpayers and rely upon governmental handouts to exist. That's called communism.

Wonder if her house will sell by the time it's been listed for a year.

Wonder if she plans on staging the home once she actually moves out, which will probably be next weekend, after election, especially if her fellow dems lose this week because then the current dems will have to rush really quick to deny the residents their choice of her replacement and they will appoint one of the losers.

Let's hope that the people in the city have the intelligence to know that the dems are stealing from them to give to the ultra rich, that the dems are making decisions that are causing the tax base to fall drastically, etc.

Let's start with Proctor's that not only pays zero in taxes but refuses to pay any PILOT and takes Key Bank and $80,000 in annual City property taxes permanently
off the tax roles. The DEMS have collapsed resale values and tax revenues with their friends and family giveaways. Dump any politician that "works" for Proctor's.
