I didn't see this in the gazette, and I checked the TU and didn't see it. But I heard on the news this week that Schenectady is not getting whatever money for something to do with the sewer treatment plant.

So, will downtown fund the needed work by paying taxes?

Of course not, we can't expect the political cronies of the DEMS to pay for anything. The poor homeowners will pay for it through higher taxes.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I've been seeing articles about money for that, but I wasn't paying too much attention. I might go back and look, but the way I feel now, what's the use, they won't stop doing what they are doing until we get some people who are awake on the city council.
Getting funds is a good thing for other cities, in Schenectady they manage to mess it up every time.

Do not fret. Karen Johnson has a new plan for Downtown! She is running to spend millions more on the arts and nonexistent tourism. Forget about Proctor's paying a Fair Share Pilot that's for suckers like the Boys and Girls Club and Ellis Hospital. Proctor's will pay NOTHING and take more properties off the assessment role.

I was trying to find more information about that sewage treatment issue, it is surprisingly hard. It either has something to do with Hurricane Sandy diverting money, or President Obama wanting to cut funds for that back in 2012, it looks like.
Roger Hull had some progressive ideas about that very important issue, clean water. Schenectady used to be ahead on ideas, remember?

You know, I used to be somewhat annoyed at how Proctor's was being promoted as this 'economic engine' thing, but after I read the shocking lies printed as HISTORY on that website, I am angry. I have been saying all along that this present concept of Proctor's had nothing to do with the original hard work of getting the theater going again as a venue for Broadway shows, but "they" are even promoting themselves as some kind of historic preservationists! Exactly the opposite! The goings-on are killing any chance at all at any tourism
"Here's a badly designed and dimly lit roadway, where there used to be the historic Erie Canal! Recognize it? Of course not! We've removed every trace! The other end, the historic ALCO, where it used to exist! Once again, no trace! Since there's nothing left to see, don't drive there, the road is impassable!" That kind of tourism? I'm digressing.
Nice governor, president, mayor, New York's cities can all go to Hell as far as they are concerned, and they are. Clean water is one of the most important functions of government, imo, our infrastructure is decaying into something from the third world, and we get "tax-free" zones around rip-off schools in Albany.
