Hey, how successful was the mayors taxpayer funded gala bus tour today in yet another of his desperate attempts to try to get people to buy a house in the city, the tour which included with a fire safety presentation?   Guess he's trying to get a lot of photo ops and make it appear like the dems are doing things.

Of course I'll bet their campaign junk mail is filled with comments about a successful home selling program but of course they will NOT list how FEW houses have sold, nor state that the FEW houses that do sell are selling way way way far below what the city claims the will sell for.

The Manchester Rd house was originally listed on 5/27/11 as MLS# 201119631 asking $144,900.  It was part of the mayor's bus tour in May AND June AND July 2012, the July appearance had seen six, yes six price reductions!  Of course the mayor's partner real estate firm is trying to sell it.  It was removed from offering in January of this year.   Once again it has been listed with another drop in asking price.  Amazing, the mayor's crony real estate firm apparently is not advising the sellers to drop the price to well below the assessed value.  But to fill you in folks on this one, it is now a "Rent to Own" house   


The Rankin Ave house, the owners have already fled the city.  The house is staged and they forgot to stage bedrooms.

The Oregon Ave house, the owners are obviously all packed up and ready to leave.  I almost thought the house was staged, until I saw the baby furniture; stagers don't use baby furniture.  But you look at it the walls are all bare, no paintings, no decor of any sort, only personal effects are whats in the cabinet that holds the TV.  But otherwise I nice house, kitchen is very nice, they might get a decent price.

The Hegeman St house was listed in 2011 asking $58K, they dropped the price to $52K in Dec. 2011, gave up in April 2012  Listed again this past June, starting with again the $58K price, now down to $51K.  When will they ever learn?


The Chrisler Ave house seems like taxes don't include the fees based on current tax rates and assessed value.  But you have to see this one.  I can't believe the realtor has the nerve to say what they do about this house, "pride of ownership...well maintained...move-in condition."    Seriously?   Move in condition?       The whole house has to be gutted.  I'd give them $5,000 (five thousand) for it based on the cost of making it move-in ready.


The William St house, not much known.  It's not on the MLS, what realtor doesn't list on MLS.  Taxes not listed but must be $4,000 at least based on current tax rate, assessed value, and fees.  But the interesting thing is the owners bought it in Dec 2010 (for $100,000)and they are already deciding to flee this city.  They will DEFINITELY take a loss on this house.


Lastly, an anniversary to celebrate.  That house at 1077 Glenwood was first listed one year ago, on 10/24/12.   The city claims it will sell for $182,000, but the initial asking price of the house was $144,000, two price reductions and still the house won't sell.



WHOO WHOO!!!  Who's been saying "the mayor and his team are doing a wonderful job in the city."   Where is that person who has said that?  Where is he?  Won't explain that comment.  Crawls into a cave andhides.

There's something funny going on with one of the houses that allegedly sold, as well. As in, it is hard to believe that someone with the means to buy a house that was overpriced even by Niskayuna standards, and taxed to high heaven as well, would just move in with no evidence of any kind of sprucing up or anything. Usually when you see a house that sat unsold for ages, and someone finally moves in, you see people, painting, doing some yard work, hanging a new wreath on the door, whatever. There is certainly no law against not doing that stuff, but it is strange. It almost looks as if whoever is in there is just house sitting. I don't mention which house because it is possible that everything is above board and therefore the individual's private business, but we taxpayers do have an interest in these houses because we've been supporting the damn "program" and have been lied to before about its success.
