"I'm positive that a clean C.R. would pass. If it went on the floor tomorrow, I could see anywhere
from 50 to 75 Republicans voting for it. And if it were a secret ballot, 150."

-- Rep. Peter King (R-NY), quoted by the New York Times, disputing Speaker John Boehner's
contention that he doesn't have the votes to pass a clean funding resolution.

The only reason there is a Govt Shutdown is because Boner and the TeaBaggers want it that way.

Peter King LMAO he is as conservative as Nancy Pelosi, nobody takes him seriously.

Good.  Then let Boner put it up for a vote and Poor Peter King will be totally humiliated!
Unless..... Unless of course, that King is right and Boner is lying about the votes!

Reports that House Speaker John Boehner is searching for a face-saving exit from the
stalemate on Capitol Hill suggests a Democratic dream come true, that the shutdown
is cratering the Republican Party.
A sampling of five major polls last week surveying public attitudes toward the shutdown find
“a Republican Party deeply at odds with the electorate,” says Democratic pollster Geoffrey Garin.
“Only 20 percent of the electorate thinks this is a rational or reasonable approach.”

Four in 10 Republicans say it’s more important to fund the government than defund Obamacare.
. By making the standoff a debate about them and their approach rather than the health-care law,
“Republicans completely squandered whatever political advantage they may have had on this.”

If Obama wants more money let him eliminate every government department that's duplicated, pass a fair tax and eliminate the IRS, cap the salaries of all government employees until the private sector equals their pay, and cut foreign aid to all countries who house terrorists.

Obama doesn't want more money... the Congress has a responsibility to fund the govt.  This has little to
do with Obama.

Yup, the house passed many bills that would fund government.  Harry Reid won't pass them.

The house voted 40 times to defund ObamaCare and lost every time.  Yet they are holding the Govt
hostage to defund Obamacare.

I'm glad that you offered your opinion... so did Senator Schumer.

“The truth of the matter is that there are enough Democratic and Republican votes
in the House of Representatives right now to end the shutdown immediately with no partisan
strings attached. The House should hold that vote today. If Republicans and Speaker Boehner
are saying there are not enough votes then they should prove it. Let the bill go to the floor,
and let’s see what happens. Just vote. Let every member of Congress vote their conscience,
and they can determine whether or not they want to shut the government down. My suspicion,
my very strong suspicion is that there are enough votes there, and the reason that Speaker
Boehner hasn’t called a vote on it is because he doesn’t apparently want to see the government
shutdown end.”

Yes, Chuck Schumer is concerned about the Republican Party.
