One woman's magazine article written in praise of the hazing she endured while pledging a sorority has caused her university to launch an investigation into the practice on campus.


Tess Koman was forced to dance luridly for men, drink to excess, and was locked in a basement and says it was all great fun. She liked it so much, in fact, that she wrote a glowing account of her hazing experience in Cosmopolitan.


But Schenectady, New York’s Union College, Koman’s alma mater, isn’t quite as thrilled and officials there have cracked down on the illegal practice in the wake of Koman’s article.

this Koman person is a sicko.....where is she now???....gentlemen's club ???......wow all that money for a degree ...down the tubes.....

now that's a no no....probably upper class and says who gives a good "s--t"..  it's pnly money...

We are supposed to believe 41 other young women went along with this, unnoticed?
What a shame, Union used to be a college for the intelligent. Now it's a place for rich people to plunk down money for their stupid kids, so they can say they have a degree from an expensive college.

Sigma Delta Tau...the EAT Me girls...yeah , they we're know as the "easiest" of the sorostitutes (yes, a known play on words combing sorority and prostitute)  on my college campus 20 years ago. I guess things haven't changed. Had a friend who pledged a sorority and it sounds about the same as she went through. Her pledge class wasn't allowed to eat during daylight hours and she use to hide food in my room. She'd run down the hall and eat it quick while she knew her sisters where not around.

Personally I never understood the whole paying yearly dues to have friends.

This story is horrible, this person had fun in a racy and proactive manner!!!!!!!! Call the PC Police!!! All the losers on this board who have never lived their lives are so offended, omg, let's punish her and talk badly about her!!!!

In the article in the magazine, the woman does not describe what she went through as fun, far from it,and she also says she is still having anxiety today over it, yet she says it was a great experience. It reflected poorly on her intelligence , and on the others in the sorority, in my opinion. Nothing she recounted sounded like racy fun. I know other women who attended or are attending the college who feel similar to what I do about it. I guess we are all losers, not wanting negative publicity for the college we care about. Schenectady gets enough bad press.

True, but if you choose to pledge and then drop out...well, you may as well move to another school. Had a friend who dropped out of pledging and she was practically tortured for her next two years at the school. Rumors, things left on her door, car scratched, etc. It was years of that nasty, psychological bullying that girls can be so great at. The guys I've know who dropped pledging just got a good beat down once and everything was fine.
