Dogs or Tobacco?

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Smoking in a Car with Children is Now Illegal

Well, in Oregon anyway.

Beginning Wednesday, January 1st, it will be against the law to smoke in a car with children
present in the state of Oregon. As it should be. It's borderline child abuse.

The smoker faces a fine of $250 for a first offense and $500 for subsequent ones.

Yeah, 1% of a child's life is spent in a car.  The rest in their home.  Yup, it's about "the children".

Who am I kidding, you must support no-knock SWAT raids to protect children from parents that smoke in their home.

Right, they are not Government issue, but if their parents are too stupid to realize second hand smoke will hurt them, then someone must!

Again with your stupid comparisons....no-knock.....really?
1% or 100%, what's the difference...if the kids are in the car, and a parent or other person in the car is stupid and doesn't
care that second hand smoke can kill their children, then yes, someone needs to step in!
Now, for people like you that don't think it is important to try and protect children (who can't protect themselves in these
instances). I can understand how you think this is wrong and a violation....of course you think that about EVERYTHING outside
of Cissyworld!!!

Smokers need to use common sense knowing what they know now, saying that this is about revenue not protection. As Cicero pointed out there is no way of knowing if a parent smokes in their houses and how would they find out, even worse what measures would people put up with to find out. Should we have random checks for ashtrays or have the garbage men look for cigarette butts. Common sense people use it.

Yea this is a real money maker!!!
I wonder if the fines will ever equal the amount the taxpayer pays for treatment and disability
payments to these kids who never smoked... except when they were in their parents car.
