again fund the paramedics thru the VFD's  - house them out of south Schenectady, curry rd and Carmen where the budgets will pass

First....the vfd don't want it as part of their budget. If memory serves me...that is what was proposed at the curry rd fire dept. The taxpayers paid for a separate bay for an ambulance....that didn't happen.

Second....don't be to sure about folks passing fire dept budgets/increases/expansions.....they were all voted down!

Third.....Ambulance service is covered under all private/government health insurances. Some with co-pays...some without. The key words here are 'HEALTH' insurance. So this is a healthcare issue and should be treated just like everything else that is covered under health insurance. Pay as your insurance dictates. Those who use the service...pay for it via insurance/copay.

And now under obamacare EVERYONE has health insurance....so coverage is clearly not an issue.

And since ROTTENdam is the WORST at handling money and budgets, no one in their right mind would want them to handle the ambulance budget. ROTTENdam has gone 'how many years' without receiving als $$$$.

It is a no brainer that ROTTENdam should have Mohawk handle their service....but like said before....I don't see Bufarti, Caldoor or tjhooker throwing their goomba's under the bus....ESPECIALLY tjhooker!!

I didn't say I was building a building

just offering up a way to fund REMS

if REMS with ALS is SOOOOOO important let the people vote yes to fire department budgets

vs

letting a small group of people decide the fate of REMS

ow is fire protection provided in your
municipality?
Cities are required to provide fire protection. It is typically provided through a municipal
fire department which may have paid and/or volunteer firefighters. According to the
Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY), 42 cities have all or mostly
paid fire departments, while 17 are all or mostly volunteer departments. Paid firefighters
are commonly known as “career” firefighters. According to a 2003 FASNY report, the
median wage, benefits and overtime payment for a full-time firefighter statewide
(excluding NYC) was $57,278. Examples range from $49,764 in the North Country to
$101,702 on Long Island.
Villages must also provide fire protection. A village may (a) have its own fire
department, (b) contract with the fire department of another municipality, (c) contract
with a fire district, or (d) form a joint fire district with a town and other villages. Where
villages have fire departments, they may also have career, volunteer, or a mix of both
types of firefighters. While the reported numbers of combination fire departments vary,
most seem to be located in Monroe and Westchester Counties. In Monroe County,
which has 10 combination departments, nearly one third of those departments’
members are career firefighters.
State law does not allow towns to provide their residents with fire protection as a
municipal function. Instead, fire protection is provided either by a fire district or through
creation of a fire protection district.
There are about 1,850 fire suppression or prevention organizations and over 114,000
firefighters in the state, including over 96,000 volunteer firefighters.
The fire district system was
established in the 1932, by
the State Legislature as a
means of insuring adequate
fire protection throughout the
state. Some 800 fire districts
were established, primarily
around the existing volunteer
companies, which were
originally established to
protect rural villages with
horse drawn apparatus.
Robert H. Fickies,
Commissioner, Averill Park &
Sand Lake Fire District No. 2

Why should the taxpayers have to foot the bill for yet ANOTHER vote?
They already voted to NOT have the ambulance service be taxpayer supported!!!
That is when REMS said that they were going to run the service JUST LIKE A BUSINESS!!!

DIDN'T WORK....DIDN'T HAPPEN!

ROTTENdamians already voted ........ and they said NO.....REMEMBER?

ROTTENdam homes are over assessed. Home values are down, yet taxpayers are paying taxes on a false inflated value. And you think they will vote for more taxes??????

How many times are you gonna circle this airport????

Who said special vote - add the # to the budget and keep your mouth shut

The 30 or so vfd's and rema staff will go vote in late December or early January when they vote for fire commisioners and Rems will be funded

This is rotterdam do things the rotterdam way

As for past votes they are just that

The proposal is not to fund Rems but fund the paramedics Rems would just be along for the ride

Besides the last vote was to fund an ambulance service. Which is vastly different than a paramedic service

Don't lose focus the issue is paramedics not ambulance service

many of these rems folks...moonlight for mohawk!!!

However....i'm a bit confused here.....i am hard pressed to believe that buffarti, caladoor, tjhooker would EVER sell rems/parametics down the road....I MEAN REALLY!!! tjhooker, if word on the street is true....was the biggest defender/supporter of rems/parametics when the FDG administration was tossing around the idea of mohawk.

it appears that this just may be nothing more than all smoke and mirrors....ya know...it's an election year!!!

TJ Hooker wouldn't sell one of his hoes down the road........... who do you think was instrumental in getting Eunice to retire so Diane could slither in to the clerks position

hooker eats his own

They sent Eunie away....to protect HER!!! And to protect the party reputation. Ms. Collins was going to be the next run EVENTUALLY. Eunie's screw up just escalated the move.

That was nothing more than a 'brush it under the rug' tactic.

First.....Eunie was sent away to protect her from those who knew and had proof of her corruption.....AND to protect the 'party' from a black eye.

Second.....Ms. Collins/Marco
