It's the Towns responsibility to draft and offer a contract as the entity initiating the offer(employer) .. not the "employee" to submit their own contract.

more tracking of the ambulances and disclosure of employee drug and alcohol tests.
Is Romano trying to hide something about the drug and alcohol test results?
I really couldn't care less who "wins" in this battle - but if REMS says they're going to do A-B and C .. and they don't, they should be eliminated. If Mohawk doesn't keep teh contractual # of units in Rotterdam, THEY should be eliminated too.
This whole thing has been going on for too many years. Either run it like a business, following the rules of your "employer" - or get out of the way and let someone else handle it.

I've asked these questions. I've sponsored resolutions with Councilman Larmour (which were defeated by the administration) to donate very expensive life saving equipment to REMS. Councilman Larmour (who also happens to have a DJ business) is donating his time to play for the upcoming REMS fundraiser. We regularly speak with members of the organization ( the last time being as recently as Wednesday). Obviously those who are writing these things are neither a member of REMS nor an attendee of town board meetings. Please email me at jvillano@rotterdamny.org and schedule a time to meet me at town hall with the REMS guys and we can go over my voting record by watching the videos on a laptop. If you prefer me to watch them alone they are available online. Please don't make assumptions without any knowledge of the facts.
I have watched the board meetings. I seem to know more than you. I am the one that asked the question why there was no contract signed not you in all your months on the board. You supported REMS all during your campaign and never followed through to get the contract signed. Is that because you were already elected and it doesn't matter to you anymore. You got what you wanted. By the way I don't make assumptions.
Now let me know what meeting it was that you claim you asked why the contract wasn't signed. Let us all know because I can't find it.

ROTTERDAM — A showdown between paramedic provider Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services and some town leaders has likely been averted as the two sides say they expect to sign a contract soon.
In December, REMS was awarded a request for proposal for a five years.
"I believe we are close to a contract," said Dean Romano, REMS director of operations, on Tuesday.
Romano said he and Nancy Casso, president of REMS' board of directors, will be at Wednesday's town meeting to answer questions. He said he won't make a formal presentation and has asked his staff not to attend the gathering at Town Hall.
Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi said he called Romano Tuesday morning and requested that he call off his presentation. "Given the nature of how close we are to an agreement, there is no need to pick at this," he said. Romano agreed.
Despite that optimism, Buffardi expressed consternation about how the contract discussions broke down.
"I'm confused about why we got so far apart," Buffardi said, because most of the contract squabbles revolve around "modest language changes."
On Tuesday afternoon, Buffardi said Town Attorney Kate McGuirl was huddling with Police Chief James Hamilton to review the language changes REMS requested in the contract.
"I think we have a good working relationship with REMS and the contract will guarantee that," Buffardi said. "It gives protection to both sides."
In December REMS was selected over Mohawk Ambulance Services, in a 3-2 vote that polarized the community, to provide service. Buffardi and Deputy Supervisor Wayne Calder cast the dissenting votes.
Last month, Buffardi sent a letter to REMS outlining concerns about patient safety and the service's financial stability.
Romano countered that REMS is fiscally sound and also said, "I am optimistic that we can forge beyond this and foster a good relationship and take care of the residents of our community."

Did anyone notice that Gadfly was appointed to the Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services Board?
Board vote for her was unanimous
Mohawk - HERE WE COME!
Gadfly has nothing to do with whether Mohawk takes control or not. it's gonna happen anyway. it's all part of the consolidation.
