Nope, Central Park is no longer the crown jewel of the city.

The city DEMS are stealing money from the taxpayers and giving it to the millionaires downtown instead of using the tax money for Central Park.

Central Park Casino has code violations, it's closed.    But wow, there's money for a gold ceiling in Proctors.

Story in the gazette.   OK, the people that were going to operate the casino were going to make repairs but didn't (because they couldn't afford it).

But read at the end of the story.  In referencing the park, the casino, boats and lake, McCheese says:

Quoted Text
It all boils to money.

How is there enough money to exempt the millionaires downtown from paying taxes, how is their money for fancy UNNECESSARY new light poles, how is it there is money for a gold ceiling at Proctos, how is it there is money to pay for brand new buildings to give to millionaires, but there's no money for Central Park?

Perhaps it's time to just forget about the park.  Perhaps fill in the lakes, take the trees down, get rid of the playground equipment, the ball fields, and tennis courts.  Flatten it all and make part of it a parking lot for all the people that live around the park and Central State st so they can park there after the snow so streets can be plowed.

They could keep the fountain there (unused) as a monument to remember the days when the park was provided for in exchange for paying taxes, as a monument to remember the past decade of city/co leaders getting kickbacks from their millionaire political cronies downtown, as a monument to remember how the ignoring of the park in favor of downtown has resulted in a falling tax base and a failing city.  Maybe they could put a statue on top of the fountain - a chubby guy shaking pom poms.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The abuse of taxpayer funds for use by the friends and family club will continue until such time as the voters pull their heads out of the sand and throw those in power out on the street in the voting booth.

It is the BJ capital of the pervert world, according to Youtube

I wonder if someone with two mommies goes there to hang?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

They have the world convinced that Schenectady is "cash-strapped", whatever that is supposed to mean, and therefore justified in letting stuff go. Whatno one seems to understand, is that we are still paying the city, more than we ever did. If you paid a contractor to paint your house, and he painted your neighbor's house and then told you he couldn't afford to paint yours unless you gave him more money, because he was broke, and you gave him more money, and then he told you that you would have to do the work yourself, your outrage would be monumental.
McCheese is worse than incompetent, he's deceitful.

Bravo!! The Casino can't operate profitably. I spoke to the former owner and working with the City nit wits was a joke. The condition of the tennis courts is
pathetic. Really sad to remember what was and the thousands that attended Tuesday in the Park before Mayor Stratton. The DEMS don't care about anything except milking
Metrograft and picking over the carcasses. Remember Denise Brucker in November. Number one City DEM vote getter who wanted to tax St Al's fleeing the tax hell she created.

Ironic that the City has to 'cut back' on the items like tp in Central Park bathrooms and the parks upkeep. But isn't it great that the $19 million dollar Erie Blvd project (for which the City had to contribute hundreds of thousands to) is getting new lighting for an almost vacant-business district?

There's a big middle finger to the neighborhoods....

I drove down Union St last night.

Pretty much abandoned.  No real foot traffic or stuff going on.

Downtown does tend to be pretty busy on the weekends - not enough actually to recoup the tax monies thrown by Metrograft, but it is fairly busy.

Just that Union St, the other decent business district, is comparably abandoned.

That place that had the Salamack's was going to put new stuff in there, but that's a no-go, and the furniture place displaced a hair salon and then moved to the Stockade, and I guess the florist moved out for the remodeling and then never came back, so there's a lot of vacancy in that row now. It has been pretty quiet. The OTB's leaving made a difference, it was kind of a neighborhood hangout. I kind of wish there was a dollar store or drug store, something that draws more people more of the time.
Last night was pretty quiet, siren-wise, as well.

From Oct. 17 gazette:
Woman allegedly attempted assault

SCHENECTADY -- A city woman allegedly wielded a crowbar against another person, authorities said.

Brenda Fields, 60, of 107 Nott Terrace, is accused of using the crowbar to jab a woman in the chest and then swinging it and striking the woman in her cheek Saturday afternoon in Central Park, according to papers filed in court. She faces one count of second-degree attempted assault, a felony.

The city steals from the homeowners for parks and police, but rather than using the money for those purposes, it goes to their political cronies and downtown.

Sell Central Park to a developer....everything except the rose garden which is maintained by volunteers. It is a total waste of money. It is a playground for drug dealers, pedophiles, and prostitutes! It's time the taxpayers stop paying for the scum's recreational playground!!

SELL IT!!!
