Authorities say a captain for the Schenectady city fire department has been killed in an off-duty all-terrain vehicle accident in Lewis County. Public safety officials in Schenectady tell the Daily Gazette that 47-year-old Capt. John Nicol and a friend were riding ATVs in the woods in Montague Monday afternoon when Nicol hit a gravel bed and was thrown from his vehicle. The county sheriff's office says Nicol was ejected from his ATV and died of his injuries shortly afterward. Nicol was a 23-year veteran of the Schenectady Fire Department. It's obvious that ATVs are very dangerous.
NY State should either ban them outright or restrict speeds to no more than 15 mph and no more than 20 hp.
Nobody needs to go any faster than this when going off road, especially in wooded areas.
I also propose a special review board within DMV to issue special permits for ATVs.
This board will do an extensive background check on the driving records and habits, as well as the applicant's medical records.

I just heard about this on WGNA radio station. A firefighter by the name of Kevin called in and requested a song by Carrie Underwood......'i'll see you again'.

ATV"s dangerous.....when driven.. incorrectly.....off road needs to have special permits....and the lady on the bike with her puppies roaming??/
where's her helmet......not a good defense .....male chauvanism
