Fish to tetrapods

416-359 Ma
Osteolepis
An early member of the Tetrapodomorpha, the piscine line leading to tetrapods,
Osteolepis is generalised enough to give a fair approximation of the common
ancestor of tetrapods and lungfish.

385 Ma
Eusthenopteron
Belonging to the family Tristichopteridae, a family that form a sister group to Panderichthys
and the tetrapods. Though not on the evolutionary path to tetrapods, Eusthenopteron is of
fairly general build and is very well known, serving as an iconic model organism in tetrapod
evolution.

375 Ma
Tiktaalik
A "fishapod" more tetrapod-like than Panderichthys.     A fish, transitional between
fish and the early, fish-like labyrinthodonts.

365 Ma
Acanthostega
Together with Ichthyostega the sole early labyrinthodont known from fairly complete
skeletons. It is the oldest animal known to have feet rather than fins, thus making it
a true tetrapod and the oldest known unquestionable ichthyostegalian.

365 Ma
Ichthyostega
Fairly closely related to Acanthostega. It possibly represent an early (and ultimately
unsuccessful) line adapted to moving on land by inchworm-like movements.     Together
with Acanthostega the sole early labyrinthodont known from fairly complete skeletons.

the argument at my school 40 years ago was the absence of transitional fossil forms. I think it is still the case. the forms  presented  by you or anyone are  always very weak.
i am not for or against  any particular theory of how I got here. I dont need to know every thing.

When you consider that 90% of all species that ever were are now extinct, it's not difficult to picture
holes in the evolutional path fossil record.

There is no proof there that they are transitional, they could just be extinct species like the dodo bird or passenger pigeon, almost 1000 species of animals went extinct in the last 100 years alone.

Isn't Evolution Just a Theory?

If you think that Creationism and Evolution are 'competing theories,' watch the video:

In science, "theory" usually means "a plausible or scientifically acceptable general
principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena".

plausible
1. having an appearance of truth or reason; seemingly worthy of approval or acceptance; credible; believable: a plausible excuse; a plausible plot.
2. well-spoken and apparently, but often deceptively, worthy of confidence or trust: a plausible commentator.

George Zimmerman's defense argued self defense, it was a plausible argument.

Isn't Evolution Just a Theory?

I guess for some people... it is.  Those who believe in religion over science... yea it's just a theory.

I wonder if Jonah really was swallowed by a whale and lived to tell the tale???
YES.  Definitively the answer is YES.
I read it in the Bible, so it MUST BE TRUE!

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Many people let their reality and "facts" be created by the people with fancy titles, using plausibily and conjecture.  They point at the religious and call them dupes, when they themselves are being duped.

YUP!  The earth is only 6000 years old.  The bible says so.  NO theory there... (pure fiction)

Yeah, not as silly as believing the earth is 4 billion years old.  Scientists have the birth certificate.

I guess it's plausible though.

Really Cissy?  Are you really a "creationist?"  Or are you just being your usual argumentative
self?

There is no Scientific debate on Evolution.  None!  The details may be altered slightly but the
basic premise is FACT.

First, I'm neither a creationist or evolutionist.  I understand politics require I be one or the other.

Second, not even science speak in the term FACT, they cite EVIDENCE.  Then they use that evidence to construct a plausable theory.  And at the end, you are no closer to fact or truth.

I like this one, even though he knows it is not FACT he threw that word out there as if it were, that is a tactic used by an experienced troll

Quoted Text
Evolution is a theory. It is also a fact.
And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing
certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain
and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to
explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's, but apples did not
suspend themselves in mid-air, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from
ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some
other yet to be discovered.
