food stamps should include some paper products....you know in some mideastern countries......they do not use toilet paper...or bathe??

People need toilet paper, tampons or pads, diapers, depends, kleenex, body soap, foot soap, hand soap, douche, shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, foot cream, hair removal cream for the ladies, shaving cream for the guys and the after shave products, powder, dish soap, pre-soak, laundry soap, paper towel,  loose-leaf paper.

Watch the people ahead of you in a store, swiping their food stamp card, look at their salon nails--on the fingers and the toes--and the are usually in line talking on their cell phones, they aren't using the obama phones.   If they have money for salon nails and pedicured toes, and a fancy cell phone, there is no need to worry how they should pay for toilet paper.

Where is the line drawn?  Who defines what is a necessity and what isn't?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

what no one talks about are the immigrants from countries and being able to get all kinds of help, housing food, education, transportation...

then, walla.....they own the convenient stores and gas stations.....no one says anything about that....

if an eyebrow is raised....right away it's discrimination.....so what are we Americans to do

This all stems from the government taking control of every aspect of your life.

Entire families of immigrants work together to open businesses.

American family members are all changing to the me first mentality. They let the
government take care of their families.

Forever.

The immigrants do get benefits, no doubt.

Although they don't seem to be seeking careers on welfare.

They come from places where the only support people get is from friends and families.

I don't mind helping out friends or family members.

I do mind government employees getting rich taking my taxes to give peanuts to the poor.

Allowing the government to do everything for us is the line that was crossed long ago.

There will always be disabled people and people unable to work due to not being able to
perform good enough to cover the cost of their salary. Ending minimum wage would help
a great deal.

The problem is that the number of people below the poverty level just keeps climbing.

Taxing, running a massive bureaucracy, and giving out meager handouts is over 50% wasted tax dollars.

Excessive taxation and too much government is the cause, not the cure.

That is my point. If we quit throwing benefits out to those who could take care of themselves, and spend the money on things they don't need, we could take care of the truly needy better. Why should we provide a housing subsidy and food stamps to someone who drives a Trans Am? I go without cabletelevision, OMG, I am more fortunate than someone who has premium channels and then doesn't have enough left to pay a small amount of rent or buy toilet paper? Guess what, people like that can't be bothered to go out and vote that's why we are losing our homes to the insane spenders of other people's money. I know of one guy, with a family, he has a job but gets subsidized housing, fine. He shows up at work with no lunch, claims he can't afford it, then later on he's discussing his latest marijuana purchase. I'll bet he needs toilet paper as well.
If the economy isn't working, and it isn't, let these people complain to their electeds about the lack of jobs, not the affordability of t.p.

Today there are many many folks who once were considered 'middle class' that are now on government assistance due to job loss and the 65 and older folks. There are also veterans who have been waiting years for their va benefits so they are opting for welfare while they wait.

Where are the churches and the families?? Is the government the 'only' place these folks have to turn to?

just sayin'

Churches can't even seem to stay in business being tax exempt.

Families aren't going to help their own when the government is there to do it.

Get rid of food stamps and pull down the current fiat system......every time the government 'sets up' something, that my start
out as good....regulation to the max ensues and makes EVERY common man a criminal before they are even born....

I think the massive increase in food stamps signifies two things. One, the increase in joblessness and prevalence of low wage jobs, obviously, makes more people than ever before eligible. Two, globalist corporate types are fine with the dirt wages, but they've realized it cuts into their profits for junky food, so the solution is make those who still have a job pay for the food of those who don't. The school lunch programs are a corporate scam disguised ascompassion too. The junky convenience food they feed kids comes USDA approved. Fresh food often doesn't meet government nutrition guidelines, honest. Big Food should be giving that stuff free to the schools, it's expensive because it's 90% stuff that should not be consumed.
