What did the cops do when the crooks were armed with fully automatic 'Tommy Guns' with drum magazines back in the day?

Mostly the cops died.  It was the FEDS (G-Men) who were armed with Thompsons to match Al Capone etc.
(Didn't you ever watch "The Untouchables?).

~A more accurate 'assault rifle???
Accuracy depends on several factors. One caliber is 'more accurate in brush, or in wind, or in rain than
others.

Accuracy as you say depends on many factors, but as you know it doesn't rely on the caliber only, free floating barrels, head spacing, adjusting triggers, twist rate, etc can all be done to increase accuracy, so why do you have a problem with a more accurate gun?

Quoted from Box A Rox
~ Reliable?
The m14's didn't have reliability problems in Vietnam, but  the m16's, (your weapon of
choice) did.   Is reliability really a problem for you Henry?  Do you miss a buck because your gun was
unreliable?  Or is in YOUR coming race war where you worry about reliability?
And, why does anyone (civilian) need an assault rifle?

So reliability isn't a issue for you when it comes to your firearms? I want the gun to go bang after every pull of the trigger no matter what situation I'm in be it hunting, target shooting, or God forbid a life threatening situation. And you are right the early AR's had reliability problems as I stated before and it cost your guys their lives, thankfully most if not all the kinks were worked out.

Quoted from Box A Rox
~Safer?
Are your 'other' weapons less safe than your assault rifles?  Sounds like you should get rid of them.
And... Why does anyone (civilian) need an assault rifle?

I have shot unsafe firearms in the past and that is the reason I praise more modern firearms, again what issue do you have with safe guns?

As I posted time and time again because civilians are the 1st responders to a crime not the police not the military. If someone breaks into your house you are the 1st line of defense for your safety and your families safety. You may believe the cops will be there to save the day but all reports state police don't show up 95% of the time until the crime has already been committed. So feel free to believe you will be in that lucky 5% chance that a cop is present when someone is kicking in your door, I don't like those odds.

You mean that crappy, fictionalized Kevin Costner movie or the campy azz fictionalized TV series?

Point being, in all those years there was no mass callings for weapons bans, the police weren't transformed into a paramilitary force. Nothing had happened. Society didn't collapse.

Even with the National Firearms Act (1934), toy could still legally buy them.

Yes accuracy... So Henry hoards assault weapons because they are ACCURATE???
LMAO!  Yea Right!  Henry if you want accuracy, a single shot or bolt action is often more accurate.

So Henry prefers a weapon with a history of reliability problems, when he could guy a more reliable weapon...
(But that weapon wouldn't be the 'black scary evil assault weapon of Henry's dreams')

Automatic weapons are a compromise in order to make the action work fast and in various conditions.
If you really do want a safe gun... the strongest are often single shot or bolt action with huge locking lugs.
(But you can continue to use a 'less safe' gun if you prefer.)

I own a 12 gauge shotgun that in most emergencies would be preferable to your "bad black scary"
assault weapon.   If you were outside my door shooting through my door with your puny lil 5.56 cal,
and I was inside my door with my 12 ga slugs... you would be in a lot more trouble than I would.
(Of course Henry is all bluster on this issue.  We all know why Henry NEEDS an assault weapon... it's
for his upcoming race war... and Henry wants something bad, black and scary looking to shoot!)

Local police departments (LPDs) across the nation are incorporated as specialized non-profits. Most LPDs are known to the Secretary of State in their respective state as an association which gives the impression to the average citizen that this is a union. However this is not the case.

The LPDs are contracted by the City Council to preform police services and securitize the city they are hired in. This is the exchange of a local government hiring a private security firm to stabilize the local population and generate revenue for the city through tickets, arrests and recording infractions. However, this does not include upholding local laws, as the County Sheriff’s Office is elected to take charge of.

The problem with this system is that the LPDs, being corporations, are subject to corporate law. And corporations fall into dissolution (i.e. the termination of the corporation) for various reasons quite often. When it is the LPD that dissolves; this becomes a question of legal authority over the citizens by the hired private security firm known as the LPD.

Corporations that dissolve are not allowed by law to conduct business. These same rules apply to the LPD that is actually a corporation hired by the local government or city council to preform police services.

Again, during prohibition, very few police officers carried Thompsons... not that they were such a good weapon
anyway.  Those bad@ss thompsons shoot .45 pistol ammo, so although they are good and put out a lot of
firepower at close range, they are useless at distance.

Every AR I ever owned shot MOA or under when I was done with it, not to shabby for a so called "assault rifle" In fact my last build was keeping its own against my 700P which was a constant 1/2MOA with match ammo.

I have yet to have one hiccup after thousands of rounds downrange, I'm more then confident with the reliability of my rifles.

You are making the assumption I would grab my black scary gun 1st if someone was kicking in my door, like you I would reach for my 12 gauge. However lets see how both of us would fair at even 75 yards with a 12 guage, all guns have their limits and upsides, range being the downfall of shotguns, I bet you wouldn't feel confident at making a clean shot a 75 yards using your ol' trusty double barrel and neither would I. Like tools there are difference purposes for different rifles, you wouldn't use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove a flat head screw, I wouldn't take a shot I'm not confident to hit.

In layman's terms, what Henry is saying is that with a lot of work and a rebuild he managed to make
his inferior assault rifle about as good as his 700P.
SO MUCH FOR ACCURACY!!!
Henry posted that "ACCURACY" was important to him, yet he buys an assault rifle that by his own words
was not as accurate as an out of the box bolt action.

So why did Henry buy an expensive assault rifle that needed a rebuild just to be accurate???
Maybe he wasn't looking for accuracy... maybe he just wanted to own a 'black bad@ss scary
assault rifle' to impress his friends!)

I'm glad that both Henry and I would grab for a shotgun to protect our homes.
I wonder why someone would be assaulting Henry's home at 75 yards away???
Unless....
Unless it was part of Henry's GunHugger Militia in a conflict with US Citizens.

You forgot to mention I now have the best of both worlds, accuracy and quick follow up shots in a semi-auto platform, all that at the same cost of a 700P with good glass. Even my 700 wouldn't shoot .5 MOA out of the box, it got there with some work as well. All guns can be improved on as I mentioned before with little work. I still see you have a problem with accurate guns, why is that?

I no longer hunt.  I seldom shoot.  Accuracy is a relative thing.
A shotgun at close range is all the accuracy that I need.  Unlike you Henry, I don't ever plan on having to shoot
an "intruder" (or anyone else) at 100 yards.

Me neither but I'm glad to know I have that option if needed, think of emergency brakes on a vehicle, you hope to never have to use them but you are glad they are there

So... what would you do if an "intruder" were to attack your home with a tank?  Do you have a plan???
Any 'emergency brakes' for that contingency?
Or if they had an armor piercing .50 that could penetrate your home.  No back up plan???
How vulnerable!
