The federal assault weapons ban was law in 1995 when former US Army soldier McVeigh bombed Oklahoma City in retaliation for Waco and a Ruby Ridge.
But the law was lifted for Adam Lanza, allowing him to use an assault weapon on 6 and 7 year olds.

Well, I figured since gun deaths being higher than car deaths is PROOF there needs to be stricter gun control, I thought less moose hunting permits might be a good statistic to justify stricter gun control. If there are LESS gun deaths than car accident deaths in 2014, then that is PROOF there is NO NEED for stricter gun control.

Luckily for Connecticut, they already had an assault weapons ban that was the same as the federal assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. But...Adams Lanza's Bushmaster was LEGAL even under the Connecticut Assault Weapons Ban.

Although Friday’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School has prompted renewed calls for reinstating the federal “assault weapon” ban, we know for a fact that such a law would not have stopped Adam Lanza or made his attack less deadly, because it didn’t. The rifle he used, a .223-caliber Bushmaster M4 carbine, was legal under Connecticut’s “assault weapon” ban, which is similar to the federal law that expired in 2004. Both laws, in addition to listing specifically prohibited models, cover semiautomatic rifles that accept detachable magazines and have at least two out of five features: 1) a folding or telescoping stock, 2) a pistol grip, 3) a bayonet mount, 4) a grenade launcher, and 5) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor. The configuration of the rifle used by Lanza, which his mother legally purchased and possessed in Connecticut, evidently was not covered by that definition. . .
Larry Pratt, the director of the gun lobbying group “Gun Owners of America,” says he hopes the idea that his members could kill any politician who opposes guns remains “in the back of their minds” when they try to pass legislation that is contrary to what he wants.
Pratt is about as right-wing as you can get. A regular supporter of Tea Party favorites Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Steve Stockman, Pratt is the gun nut people call when they think the NRA is being too liberal. Gun Owners of America thinks the best kind of gun control is a gun in every home, background checks be damned. He also rejects the NRA talking points about how guns should be used for hunting and self-defense. Pratty only has one use for a gun: killing tyrants.

A North Dakota woman accidentally shot herself last week while trying to scare away an intruder.
Kristina Moberg found a man trying to pry open the screen door to her Grafton home about 11 a.m. July 15, while her husband was at work, reported KVLY-TV.
She grabbed a gun in the home in an attempt to scare away the burglar, but it accidentally fired into some woods outside.
“(Moberg) was startled when the round went off and accidentally discharged a second round, which pierced her lower leg,” said Assistant Police Chief Anthony Dumas, of Grafton police.
Investigators believe the second bullet may have ricocheted before striking Moberg in the leg.
“Not very good aim, but she’s in good condition,” said her husband, Kenny Moberg, laughing.

She might have shot herself but who knows what the home invader might have done, chances are she might have not made it out alive if not for the gun.

The man was probably there to fix the screen door. She should have offered the man a glass of ice tea.

LOL MADE IT OUT ALIVE!!! She made it out alive but shot... if she didn't have a gun, but instead had a boat air horn, she would have made it out alive and without a bullet home in her leg.
Wonder if she had any kids, or if the round that went out of the house hit anyone else. GunHuggers are unconcerned with "collateral damage"... they are so petrified with FEAR, they'd shoot a hundred of their neighbors by mistake and say: At least I made it out alive! (Glad she doesn't live next door to me!)

An air horn, my God I hope your wife or kids never have someone try to break down their door when they're home alone. I can see it now "quick kids hide under the bed, I'll grab the phone and air horn, we are going to be ok" LMAO
