You only shoot who you are ordered to shoot. Only in faraway lands, in national defense .
I don't remember ever being ordered to shoot anyone. But Cicero professes to knows much about this subject than I do.

I went outside at 'high noon' today... didn't hear one gunshot!

Texas county gun show shuts down rather than implement background checks

A gun show held about once a month near Austin ends in January after county commissioners and the show management failed to come to terms over a county demand for federal background checks on all gun sales.
The Saxet Gun Shows in Travis County have been held in the county’s publicly-owned Exposition Center since 2010. Following the Sandy Hook shootings of 2012, commissioners stipulated that the gun show require all exhibitors and attendees to perform a free federal criminal background check, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
But the show’s management refused. After weeks of negotiations with little movement on either side, county commissioners did not renew a lease for the event.

I have no problem with 'gun shows' as long as they follow state and federal law, which would include background checks.

Yawn, can't believe this thread is so long, yet there is so little productive conversation. Pretty ridiculous that a middle ground between no guns should be allowed at all, and psychotics should be allowed to own bazookas can be found.
For the love of god, let's keep guns out of the hands of crazy people and crooks and in the hands of law abiding citizens!!!

crooks will ALWAYS have access...that's why they are crooks
as for crazy...who/what determines that? and I mean pre-crook caught and convicted?

A Florida man is in custody on Monday after police said he shot and killed a man who was texting and causing a disturbance at a movie theater. A second person was also shot.
Authorities in Wesley Chapel said that the shooting happened during a matinee showing of the movie “Lone Survivor” at around 1:30 p.m. ET.
Sheriff Chris Nocco told CNN that the suspect was sitting in the row behind the victim, and began arguing because “the victim was using his cellphone, he was texting, he was making a lot of noise.”
“This led to a verbal altercation, the verbal alternation escalated to where the suspect pulled out a .380 and he shot the [victim],” Nocco explained. “I can confirm that the victim died of the injuries. There was another person injured.”
According to WSTP, the second victim was a woman who was there to see the movie with the first victim. Her injuries were described as non-life threatening.

I wouldn't mind GunHuggers shooting themselves so much if they'd just be more careful and not shoot those who gather to watch them make a fool of themselves! They certainly are an entertaining group!!!

A Florida man is under investigation after he told Orlando police that he accidentally shot himself during a road rage incident on Monday.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the man said he had been driving toward Orlando on Interstate-4 when another driver allegedly flashed a weapon after the two had some type of altercation.
To protect himself, the man brandished his own handgun, causing it to discharge into his leg. (NO! REALLY!!! I GUESS IT'S NATURES WAY OF CLEANING UP THEIR GENE POOL! )
The man was expected to recover from the wound after being treated at a local hospital. Because of some confusion about where the shooting occurred, the case was handed over to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and then to Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Almost 400,000 people tried to buy firearms last year in Colorado, where historic new gun laws went into effect in July.
A total of 7,351 applications for both private and retail sales were denied in 2013, at a rate of 1.85 percent. The denial rate in 2012 was 2.14 percent. The most common reasons for denial varied: 1,412 were due to an arrest or conviction of assault; 381 because the applicant had a restraining order against them; 166 for arrest or conviction of sexual assault; and 41 were because of a homicide conviction, and arrests or convictions for other crimes. There were a total of 6,198 private sale background checks from July through December, with 122 of those denied during that period.

what are the 'other' reasons...they can be changed without public knowledge at any time....so those folks will just go get one somewhere else...via CRIMINAL WALMART, on the street.....
